Maryland has a state law enacted in 2001 that prohibits "sales below cost" of gasoline to protect independent station owners from being driven out of business, but it does not "regulate" the price of gas

I wasnt agreeing with the Law or the reasonings behind the law, just stating that Maryland Regulates the Price of gasoline.

And I wasn't disagreeing with anything other than the fact that the law was for ~all~ motor fuel dealers, and not just Wawa, Sheetz or BJ's, Nucklesack. It was however motivated by the impact that those companies can have on the marketplace. It is regulation because the law governs their predatory conduct. :yay:

but seriously.... I was listening to a talk show on the radio a few weeks ago. They were talking about the switch from the winter blend to the summer blend. They said to expect gas prices to go up about .20, so I wasn't too shocked when I saw it at the pump.

Today when asked on FOX why the big jump in prices a analyst stated two main reasons with respect to the current Mid East situation.
One: Oil companies are having to shut down or scale back oil rigs for repair.
Two: Consumption is up over this time last year with the assumption that a earlier Day Light Savings time is the cause.

I dont necessarily buy off on the oil rig spin but we can certainly do more to scale back gas consumption. For the record I do car pool to work

I find it very strange that gas prices have jumped from 2.47 to 2.77 in one week.

How much profit will the oil companies post this quarter. when is the increase considered price gauging?
