At this point what they need is for several hundred of the perps to go missing and turn up decoposed in the swamp some years from now.

Worked for Chaptico in the 90s.

For your consideration ...

I really despise writing like this .... "Over the past several months, St. Mary’s County, Maryland, has witnessed an alarming surge in gun violence and gun-related crimes."

When it should be written like this ... Over the past several months, St. Mary’s County, Maryland, has witnessed an alarming surge of criminals using firearms when committing crimes.

And the headline should read .... Escalating Criminal Violence and the Illegal Use of Firearms in St. Mary’s County.

Since we all know who the usual suspects are, and in an attempt to get rid of them, once they commit such crimes, they should be forever banned from any welfare programs, especially any use of subsidized housing.

Well, this line is a heaping pile of BS. Every damn shooting they list is in the "Triangle". GMR, Chancellors, and 235. And River Bay, of course.

So no, many communities in the county are not facing similar if not worse. Downtown Lex park and Great Mills are facing 90% of it.

However, it’s important to note that these shootings represent just one of the many communities in St. Mary’s County experiencing such violence. Numerous other areas within the county are also facing a similar, if not worse, escalation in gun-related incidents.

What I'd love to see is a Gun Crime Dashboard. when Mr. Felon McFelonface is caught with a gun he's in illegal possession of, what punishment was meted out? Which judge was involved? Ones that got prison time for crimes committed with guns, how much time did they actually serve. If the SA did ple deals, what did we get in return?

That's what the local press used to do. The crime beat reporter that covered the trials and reported on the ruling.

"A high caliber, assault style rifle that shoots 30 magazine-clips per second with a chainsaw attachment and a bumpstock that turns the bullet into a grenade"
exactly GIF

I think they are banned from subsidized housing if they're guilty of a crime. The problem is, most of them live with their girlfriends.

Just sneakin' around....
This takes balls. Trying to stop and carjack a car while on bicycles. What would they do with it once they had it, besides beat it to a pulp, light it on fire and abandon it? They're becoming more and more brazen as there seems to be no pushback, authority presence, and no threat of being in custody for more than an evening before being let back out. Almost a badge of honor to them.

Caught. Not just some rogue kids on bikes, but pretty bad ass. I'll be ticked if they get released quickly.

Just don't speed one mile over the limit or you will be immediately apprehended with
overwhelming force and cutting edge technology and jailed for life. Mighty fine police
work there. But you can commit deadly crimes and felonies and it's "we don't have the resources",
"we need more manpower" or just plain "catch and release".

Funny how that works out ..............

I'm not sure about that. From what I've seen, some repeat offenders are living in subsidized housing. Or, they're staying with baby's momma or daddy, even though they're not on the lease and legally cannot reside there. Thats why there are so many cars parked on the street in front my house and our neighbors house. Residents are permitted two parking spaces, so when mommies and daddies stay there they have to park on the street.

Okay, the article says they are going to charge the 17 year old as an adult. It also lists one of the charges as:
– Possession of a Regulated Firearm by a Minor (2 counts)

So, that's an easy one for his lawyer to get dropped, right?

It is also looked down on culturally.

My sister in law is japanese in Japan. They are really afraid to even look like they might be stealing because of the harsh penalties.

When someone finds a wallet, they pick it up carefully and away from their body like it's murder crime scene evidence and put it in the mail box.

So they also enjoy a very low crime society.
