Not to be the negitive Nancy here, but every once in a while those rockets blow up. We'd be pretty eff, if it happened when it was full of fuel rods

Send them from Florida. It'd suck if you live in Europe, but we'd still be okay. :yay:

The moon sounds like a good place to send the spent rods..

But look at the size weight of the spent rods acompared to the TONS of pollutants a single coal plant puts into the air..

Do you know a coal plant (being much less regulated) spews about 10 times more radiation into the atmoshere then does a nuke plant??

Not a fan of coal burning plants. But nukes give folks the heebyjeebys- blame Chernobyl- and have tox waste and security issues. Better than fossil fuels, but far from a panacea to our energy issues.

Ok, your turn. Solve the problem.

Nobel laureate Al Gore, we are to believe, has the technical acumen to analyze complex data, assess risks, and identify the right countermeasures. He must be able to critically sift through mountains of data, distinguish between reliable and unreliable climate models, and astutely analyze volumes of esoteric scientific reports and studies to determine with something like crystal clarity what will most assuredly happen in the future. On an ongoing basis, as new data comes in.

...it may do well for us all to learn more about something instead of fearing it like the Loch Ness monster or Big Foot.

Do you know how many nuke plants there are around the world? Over 400

Do you know who produces the most nuke power in the world? the US

Do you know the story behind Chernobyl?

Do you think that perhaps we can build better ones than those built in the late 70' by a nation so messed up it doesn't even exist any more??

Do you know that Chernobyl still would have worked fine if not for absurd human error?

Come on. We're talking ZERO emissions.

I know the story behind Chernobyl, but many folks think of that and Three Mile Island and get panicky.

The top issues concerning nuke plants are 1-security, 2-disposal of nuclear waste, 3-proper training and safety precautions, 4-local government preparedness and citizen education of what to do in the event of an emergency.

...when you make references that are over my head!

WTF?

Simpsons Episode, King-Size Homer

Homer gets on disability for obesity and is allowed to work at home where all he has to do is periodically press "Y". He uses one of those drinking bird toys to press "Y" for him while he goes to the movies. He gets home to find that the drinking bird fell over and the nuke plant is about to go into meltdown.

...over nuke plants is EDUCATION the supposed answer to everything from the left.

Did you know that most nuclear power plants can NOT cause a nuclear explosion?

Waste is an EZ problem.

#4 isn't necessary if #1 is addressed.

If not for the 'green' movement, we would have far more nuke plants in the US today and far less co2 problems which the greens claim is such a planet killer. So, does it make any sense to concern ourselves with the current fears of people whose past unfounded fears helped make their new fears worse?
