I hate to do this but after 3 months of CRAP speeds, I find no other recourse. This is a warning to those moving to the area, as well as those considering switching from DSL to Metrocast Broadband.
Started out good with Small Business account with GMP express. 4,000 kb/s down, 1,0000 kb/s up. Had it over 2 years with NO problems.
About 3 months after Metrocast bought out GMP my speeds dropped to 250 kb/s down, 1,0000 kb/s up (sad when Upload is faster than down) with 33-67% packet loss.
Called the corporate Metrocast number (up in Philly, I live in Md).... tech support there totally useless. Luckily they still have my local people here, and I had the old Small Business servcie number.
Got a hold of the rep right away (god I miss GMP)... and she told me they have overloaded the CMTS and one was being installed. Would take a week or two to fix. Im willing to give Metrocast a shot.... but Im pissed that they did NOT tell the customer they were experiencing problems. Problems that started late Jan...and its now March and problem still not fixed.
I fail to understand how a Cable co. can NOT know they are overloading thier systems...but continue to add subscribers to the detriment of exsisting PAYING customers.
Oh and with GMP whenever I had a problem...they had a tech out the SAME DAY (if you had the small business account)...Metrocast says I have to make an appointment like eveyone else.... pfft.
Metro...Pull your head out of your behinds and see your one of the WORST Broadband ISPs rated on Broadband Reports.com ..... your loosing customers, especially those that can go with DSL (which I would if it was offered in my area).
Click this little link Broadband Ratings and scroll down to the cable providers..to see how Metrocast stacks up to other cable Companies. They are next from the bottom of the cable list!
Example: this is at 6:39pm on a Wed.
