And just so you know how stupid I am, I'll tell you how it affects me. In addition to vrai and TC's response to you, my daughter has epilepsy. Do you need to have it explained further? Now, would you care to answer my question in the same sex marriage thread, with a legit response?

How annoying is that?

KMA.

You called me a moron a couple of post ago. Do you have short term memory loss?

I just saw her asking if anyone's called you a moron lately. She didn't actually call YOU anything.

Why be mean and get personal about it?

I fail to see what a mechanical bull has to do with a 97 year old woman driving. PS, in violation of the law, no less. PS, because she FORGOT to keep her car properly registered. What do you think she might "forget" next?
Okay, one wreck on Mars, woman operating vehicle - sounds like 100% to me. My effort was to show how "stoooooopid" your position was and based on your response I would hope you could see it.

Nothing personal about it, no more so then saying just because of this persons age they shouldn't be allowed to drive. The point is regardless of age the skills of an individual are just that. If they are capable of performing a legal act why not allow them to continue doing so. If you want reaction time testing, fine, just do it for all drivers so that all are treated the same. Everyone gets an eye test when they renew their license, not just those already wearing glasses. It makes sense to do so.

Ken, I wouldn't really go to the extreme of a cut off age or anything like that. I feel that all drivers should be tested periodically on the above. I was really kind of making a joke. The idea of driving a golf cart around all day actually sounds kind of pleasant. I hope I have the good sense to know when I can no longer safely get behind the wheel.
And I hope you realize that I was just jabbing you in jest. I too would like to see some form of continuous testing to make sure those operating potentially deadly weapons are capable of doing so safely.

But watch out for Vraiblonde, she is already losing her memory (she forgot to tell Larry that they were out of peas) and might not be able to remember how to safely drive a vehicle.

Thank you. I rest my case. Mo, will you please rest your fingers?

I actually agree with you to an extent. You guys were bashing me about civil rights in the other thread and I am trying to point out to you that you are doing the same thing in this thread reference older people not being able to drive.

And she's trying to point out to YOU that old and/or disabled people driving can kill you. How will a gay person kill YOU? Or even hurt you in any way?

Nah, Ken's just embarrassed because he made a snap comment about how age shouldn't be a factor in driving. The lightbulb just came on and he's trying to figure out how to get out of it.

Gay people having sex with gay people doesn't kill children.

Old people who drive beyond their ability have been the cause of many deaths -

No embarrassment, I try not to stereotype folk nor do I believe in discrimination. Besides it wasn't me that made a snap decision about not allowing old folk to drive. I think they should be held to the same exact standards as everyone else.

Okay, so the lightbulb DIDN'T come on.

You say age shouldn't be a distinction in whether you have a driver's license or not, right? Then why do you have to be 16 and howevermany months before you can even GET a driver's license?

I realize that I'm coming into this topic a little late, but one thing that was not mentioned in that article, that was in the local papers here, was that the elderly woman's son, is a local judge.

She was pulled over because of out of date registration, but arrested for an unpaid fine for the same thing.

She was only jailed for two hours. Sounds about right for being stupid.

Play on.

When I was first living on my own, I was pizzed at how high the insurance rates are for young single male drivers. I was mad at the irresponsibles among my fellow men for their actions taking money out of my pocket.

(My one and only speeding ticket was in December 1989, no points, because I was stupid enough not to read the speed limit sign on an unfamiliar road.)

It's a legislative act, some states allow those a lot younger to obtain them (as early as 14 if I recall correctly). I don't think you have ever read where I have said that it is either right or wrong, just the law. I bet you would like all the young children of Democrats to be able to vote too (I know they do).

Wake up and smell the sheets, Bubba Dean. I think anyone under 21 and over 70 shouldn't be allowed to drive. I think if you get more than one DWI, you should get the gas chamber. I think that if you cause an accident that kills someone, you should get the electric chair.

That’s not the point. In one thread you are saying that gay people should be able to marry because it is their civil right too. Then in another thread you are saying old people shouldn’t be able to drive. What happened to the old people's civil rights.
Don't you see the hypocrisy in this?
