I want one for riding in the woods...tell me how fast how far and how the hell to get home...can I get on that does that? How much.. :lmao:
Very basic model will do that, probably $100 now. That's what I used mine for was back tracking to specific locations.

But if it is bluetooth you can route it through the IEEE 1553 Mil Standard bus and pipe it directly through the collision avoidance system and doppler radar on your bike and listen to it on your bluetooth helmet and see the display on the right eye reticle HUD you have.
The Goldwingers are going to the Garmin Zumo. Built in MP3 player, programable (Dan @ Motovations has all the area red light camer locations listed in his), audio inputs for sat radio/ radar detectors, waterPROOF, antivibration for use on Harleys and with some extra mounts you can swap it between the rasberry vehical du'jur.

I got a $15 magnetic map pouch that sticks on my gas tank

Since it's made by BMW and not Harley it probably actually works.. so my attempts WOULD be futile, I'll stop.

I saw those and they are expensive. About $750 and it looks like a 6 in TV. The GoldWing guys had their bike show in Waldorf and I saw one with a screen so big I don't know how he could see around it. :lmao:

We have a handheld GPS unit for the boat that shows the route we have taken so we can find our way back., but you can't type in destinations and stuff.

Wanted a Nuvi for the car when we travel but didn't want to spend the big $$. Ended up buying the Microsoft GPS software for $100 and use it on my laptop while traveling to make plans on where to stop with the kiddos, where to stay at hotels, etc. It has everything on it.

That's a little hard to use while riding a bike

:yeahthat: VZ Navigator is $10/ month or $3/day. My wife used it yesterday to get to the airport and back (she always gets lost).

Since vehicle units will run you $500 and up, you would have to keep the vehicle one for more than 4 years before it's cheaper than the Verizon subscription.

We only use it about 4 times per year, so it's cheapest for us to just turn it on for a day when we need it.

The accuracy is pretty good. It even has a walking mode that is good when you are walking around downtown DC.
Excellent suggestion. Went and looked at phones because mine is old and wont work with VZ. After being entered into the Verizon Borg system sales que by a mongoloid wearing a tie, I was quickly helped by hyperactive young man who seemingly lost interest and wandered off 2 minutes into his pitch.

I waited patiently and he came back to tell me I had to call "corporate" because I was not due for an upgrade until September 5th, and my contract runs out January 5th 2008. I called them and they will not move my upgrade credit to now vice September.

So now I am looking at "out of pocket" purchase. I suppose I should just forget it because if they did allow me to upgrade I would have to decide between the endless snorgasboard of envMortaCasipalBerryLG

I just got a Garmin and I like it a lot. It was 300.00 at Best Buy. They even had cheaper ones which were Magellan.

I have the magellan explorist 300.... Use it for speed and tracking on my boat. Nothing more.

Eventually we will invest in a nice chartplotter GPS for our Bay trips. Now we just follow a friend who has a chart plotter, then follow our track back on our GPS.... Comes in handy at night If you dont know the water.
