What's your source on this?

He's right. Those numbers are correct. They don't quite tell the whole story - for one thing, Wide Open Spaces was one of the most successful albums of all time, going something like 12x Platinum. Up until 2003, the Chicks sold out every venue within minutes. Afterwards and up to the present time, they've had to cancel dates because of lack of seats sold. This continues to be a problem.

Going double platinum would be any aspiring artist's dream, but it's a fraction of their former draw. Four years ago, they were the hottest country act in the world. Now, they're the Spice Girls.

I know the answer. I suspect most of you know the answer...but some may not.

Then you're delirious. I mean it. Do you think we form opinions without checking things first?

I don't understand why anyone that is NOT in the "biz" gives a rats azz about the Grammy's. We don't vote in any form. It doesn't do anything except add promotional fuel to certain album sales.

I don't know anyone that buys music just cuz it won an award. if I don't like what's on it, I ain't buying it, and further more, i couldn't give a rats azz what the musician has to say, off the CD. If it weren't for they're musical talent, we wouldn't be hearing from them anyway.

I realize that the young folks are swayed much more into music sales and political views by musicians, and that problem is two fold. The first, is that I'm glad that they are taking any interest at all and are voting. The 2nd side is that the only reason that they are voting is cuz it's what they THINK they feel is right, most without doing any further research beyond what Natelie or whoever may have said. And it is FOR that reason that politicians have gotten musicians and other hollywood types involved...to "get out the vote".

Sure...the sales for this last album don't measure up to the earlier ones. But...ummm...don't you think it may have had a little bit to do with the boycotts from country music radio and the Uber-patriotic, Freedom Fries-eating, former Dixie Chicks fans?

Well who else buys their stuff? George Soros? If you lose fans, you lose sales. It ain't rocket science. The entertainment industry is about popularity, not art.

Look, if you sell records to a bunch of folks and then call them a bunch of incestuous hillbilly rednecks, you shouldn't expect them to keep buying your stuff - which is what they did even after they apologized. They openly insulted their fanbase, and the country music industry.

Why are we still talking about this? The Chicks are over. They will never be what they used to be. They could have fixed it all with an I'm sorry but they made a federal case out of it and to no one's surprise, played the victim card.

Need to hone my skeet shootin' skills.

'Course, I already did that with "Fly".

Nucklesack...I've already mentioned that the Grammys aren't about album sales. You'd be watching the Billboard Awards for that.

Did they really call them that???

They didn't use those words. "Redneck hicks" is what I think she said the first time.

:roflmao:

Well...she certainly wasn't ready to make nice! :killingme Yeah, that could cost you a few fans, but still. I'm betting the namecalling from those "Redneck hicks" preceeded that comment. I like the fact that she didn't resort to buttkissing political correctness just to preserve some album sales.

Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters :)larry:) could name their next album "Kerad is a Big Liberal Poopiehead!" (KBLP) for all I care....I'm buying the double expensive, ultra-collector's edition the day it comes out. :yay:

Look at my post, i quoted your comment on where they ranked on the charts...

I wasnt supporting or refuting your argument i just posted the Chart Rankings.

But you did use the chart rankings as support of your argument :lmao:
I used some legit chart stats to refute what PsyOps posted. ("putrid sales"...or something to that effect....)

Actually I believe she did, then cried on TV, then when that didn't work she recanted the apology.

Hmmm. Well, after some stumbling around with it (which may or may not have come as a result of a "suggestion" from a record company suit), she finally settled on not being sorry.

I doubt most of those who were "outraged" would take them back after an apology, anyways. If you're pissed because of the original comment, you'd probably just view the apology as insincere, and continue the boycott.

Kerad... I told my wife when the Grammy show got about 15 minutes into it this was going to be a political statement. My prediction was right. No one is disputing the successes of the Chicks but the fact that we are even having this conversation is proof enough that the whole thing was a political statement and not a musical one.
