i have a color remover at the salon that works wonders. it reverses the oxidation process of coloring it, without altering any regrowth that you may have. I have used it numerous times for color corrections and it does not ruin or damage the hair. I usually follow the process with a glaze to tone the hair. I don't know if you are interested, but you could also try doing a hot olive oil treatment. Sometimes it can help soften the black. But it may need to be done a couple of times. I would be scared to do any color remover from a box. Only because of what I have seen what they do to the hair.
