When the water starts boiling, remove your pot from heat, then cover for about 10 minutes. Drain the hot water and replace with icy water for about 10 minutes. Perfect egg every time. :yay:

I agree AND if you use eggs that are at least 2 weeks old, the shells peel easier (grocery stores eggs are almost always 2+ weeks old). Here's the info. online about it:

Our eggs are always fresh and won't peel correctly unless we use this method:

bring water to a boil
add eggs
boil for 12-14 min
remove eggs from pot and put in icewater until cooled

Works every time and doesn't overcook the egg. :yay:

In My Opinion
This boiling eggs thing is so 1970s
put it in the microwave for 3 minutes, the shell comes off on its own.

It seriously works, its pretty amazing to have the shells just slide right off. Plus its an easy formula to follow for not over cooking the eggs. Nothing worse than over cooked HBeggs Ick!

The eggs always turn out great with the way I do it but if I can get the shell to come off easier, hey...I'm for it :yay:

I am so very blessed
I just had HBEs wrapped in turkey, with brown mustard for dipping. :dye:

I had two for lunch, too.

I bought these little molds, where, if you inset a warm hard boiled egg into them, when the egg cools off, you have a cute little car- or fish- shaped egg. Bubba loves 'em.

Oh I think Riggs needs some of those! Do you remember where you bought them?

I don't get it..

It took two or three months of leaving the mustard out, putting it in the sun for it to turn brown, and it was NOT very tasty.

I guess you just account for some people's taste..

Way too cute. Are Bubba's lunches refrigerated or do you just use an ice pack? My kid loves boiled eggs but I've always been afraid to pack them in his lunch, even with the ice pack.

The secret to getting the shells of super easy is...Salt! I learned this from a chef from Celebrity and it works like magic. Toss a 3 tablespoons of salt in a pan of cold water add eggs bring to a boil. Boil hard for exactly 1 minute. Then turn off the burner and let the eggs sit in the water for 12 minutes drain and run cool water over them. When you go to peel them not only will the shells just fall off but the yolk will be perfectly pale yellow. :yay:

WOW, I give this advice and nobody cares..

I need boobs..

Okay, i need BIGGER boobs, apparently, to get people to pay attention to me!??

They're COOKED.. you have a day or two before you REALLY need to worry about the, and if they go bad it will be obvious enough to where (you hope) a kid won't eat them..

Of course you do run the chance of finding one in their book bag, or their locker 6 months down the road.

I guess I didn't think about it that way, I just assumed they had to be refrigerated.
