Haunted Places

Anyone know of any truly haunted places in the area that are free and that dont require a "tour" or anything? Interested in paranormal happenings, and would like to check some out for myself. Been to Point Lookout, but the haunted lighthouse is fenced off now, and only does tours and I'm not sure where else to go there without trespassing. I like to go in and look without someone leading me around. Thanks!

Two books to read: Spooky Maryland and Haunted Maryland. Strange stuff, some of it quite local. Lots of tales about hauntings down at Point Lookout.
There's also another book I have at home, can't remember what it is.

Oh yeah, Weird Maryland.

You could spook around St Mary's City and the old graveyard behind the Episcopal Church. Just be sure to check with someone at the historical St Mary's office and with the offfice for St. John's.
BTW - I saw something on Bauer Rd early one morning I've never been able to explain.

Yeah...

The oooooold Flattops area is rumored to be really really haunted... not surprised, there were several killings and suicides there.

Now that it is just land it should be easier to investigate.

Ooohh...creepy. Yes I have been there at night, but I was younger then and was not allowed to wander around myself. I will def have to try it out! I guess your right, it's not just the lighthouse that is haunted. That whole place has a lot of history and has to be covered with creepy stuff! Thanks

It was eerie going into the bathroom because the light wouldn't work - so it was totally dark in there, and I didn't have a flashlight with me at the time. I am sure someone grabbed my arm as I was coming out of the stall so I hauled butt out of there (no I didn't wash my hands LOL).

I certainly could hear people talking (and sometimes moaning) out by the pier. Interestingly the pictures I took there usually had flashes of light on them that obscured the picture. It's been a long time, and that was prior to the digital camera revolution. Doubt I have any of those pictures left.

Yea, I'd like to know what you saw! Please share.

Okay, this is gonna sound weird but I'll dish! Last weekend I was at the Apple Basket and I swear I thought I saw a kitty scurry under a table. A "phantom cat" perhaps? This store is in an old house --maybe this was a ghost cat. Twas strange, but this is the 100% truth. I was hoping to find some history on that house -- I love paranormal stuff, and have had several occasions where it seems I am "sensitive" to things. I'd love to learn about old haunts, too.

What about the Old St. Josephs cemetery in Morganza? That place has very old graves -- I've been there a few times.

the incident on Bauer rd:
~4 years ago younger boy and I were in the car waiting for the bus, winter & very dark. It was around 6:30. The road is very narrow and we were pulled into the grass shoulder. So we're chatting and I have the park lights on and facing down the road toward Rt 5. The car lit up and I looked in my side mirror and saw headlights coming from behind us, but I also saw the leg, torso and arm of a man silloueted against the headlights and it looked like he moved behind my car. I adjusted in my seat and looked again but didn't see anyone outside. Not behind us, not in front, not walking down the rd- no where. And the oncoming was still lighting the area. I asked boy "Where'd he go?" "Who?" "The Guy." What guy?" (queue spooky music)
