Update on me...

Had blood work 2 weeks ago and a CT last week.

Initial indications are my blood chemistry and counts are good, except the platelets continue to be low. However, the count has improved to 99,000 from 26,000 just after chemo finished. Reading on the CT is good news, no evidence of metastasis and all other organs look good, which is unchanged from 6 months ago. Do have confirmation of a little atherosclerosis in the heart arteries (which I expected as it runs in the family) plus osteoarthritis in my spine, also expected from what I've done to myself over the years with falls from height.

I see Dr M Shah tomorrow for an official reading of the tea leaves.

Also, I wrote an aswer to a question about pancreatic cancer from my experience at the Quora question-answer site. I'v received over 99,300 views thus far, plus they sent it out in a best of weekly digest to 1,100,000 subscribers.

The official word from the oncologist is, I don't need to see you for 6 months.

Blood results are all in normal range except the platelets.
All internal organs look as good as expected after the surgery I had.

Blood work in 3 months, next scan to be decided then.

And then, 4 days after the really good oncologist visit, back to the ER for me Sunday evening. Had fever and abdominal pain, ended up back at the Uni MD med center in Baltimore for an enhanced endoscopy to place stents in the 2 branches of my bile duct. Looks like scar tissue constricted them and bile stones blocked the tubes.

Procedure went well, scans showed no cancer activity and blood work showed liver numbers consistent with jaundice, no other abnormalities.

Follow up labs next week and another procedure in 5 weeks to remove the stents, if they've done the job of stretching the ducts.

Was back to work today, made it through 3 of my 5 hour shift.

Keep up the good fight!!! I cant prove it, but, I think your attitude and the way you approach your treatment, has a lot to do with your healing/recovery process. Sounds like you are the Hallmark for that!!!!

The scan and lab work from my stay earlier this week dropped into my online patient portfolio...

All results consistent with bile stones blocking the ducts causing the jaundice, no cancer recurrence seen by the new radiologist in the CT.

Good news, and I sure wish you the best recovery ever.

I am at the 10 year point, all tests are excellent, and side effects of 3 months of Radiation every day were very low, but there were some burn marks, like a sun burn that lasted for a month and then was gone.

Good deal. I hope your good results continue, and that the process you have endured can be an impetus for others undergoing the same ordeal. Hopefully the doctors and specialists can use your case to come up with more improved drugs and treatments.
