NO!

I tried to give you some more green but it would not let me. I wonder how many MPD's this loser has? I would not worry about it...if they are not brave enough to sign it or come in here and logically discuss their point of view than it is not worth yours, mine or anyone else’s time.

My girlfriend who just moved here, calls Friday morning and asks what she should do if the school closes early, who to call, where to look for information.

I say, WWW.SOMD.COM :yay: If I ever want to know what the heck is going on around here, I log in and it's right there, faithful, colorful and informative. This is the BESTEST place to get the local dirt, hand down.

But you know what we need, and Sockgirl brought this to my attention....

The forums neeeeeeeddddd to go mobile. That way, even if I'm on a road trip, with outh electric or in Walmart, I can have quick access to the boards and can post pics of the sights and sounds of southern Maryland.
Forget the radio the forums are all I need.:yahoo:

:buttkiss: complete.

That is a great idea I wonder if they would do that?

I gave you some green back, but not exactly sure how to sign it yet......

LOL that was so sweet of you and everyone else for leaving me green. Thanks! When I leave Karma I always try to sign it **Nicole** so whomever is reading it knows where it came from. I don't leave bad karama because I think it would be better to bring it up in here or a PM....that would be the fair thing to do... :huggy:

Well....what good does it do if the county informs us to listen to local radio for emergency information....LOL. If I remember correctly, during Isabel the only radio station that didn't lose power was 94.7, which is around DC, so there was no So Md news anyway. I remember then, the only local information I got was from a Fredicksburg radio station that is very hard to pick up. But they did report the damage here in St Mary's somewhat. This was ridiculous on Friday. We needed road closure information, etc. The information I got was from word of mouth. It's a disgrace I think. I'm not blaming the DJ's, but the owners of the radio stations.

I was also very disappointed in the local radio station(s). They made a large issue with articles in the local paper about now having back-up power and with the ability to stay on the air 24/7.

As a member on one of the local NARFE chapters, I brought this to the members attention. Now we have been totally brushed off.

I just want to take a hammer to the radio everytime I hear "playing the most music the county commissioners will allow". WTF is that about? If the county commissioners can tell them how much music can play, they can make them work in emergency situations like they do the other county employees!!! I bet there were over 200 county employees that had to work this "holiday weekend" and that doesn't even count the Sheriff's office!

I think David set the forums up for WAP awhile back but not sure if it's still available or not because I know nothing about it.

Try going to http://wap.somd.com and see if you can get to anything. I'll email him and see if we still offer that feature.

Also, everyone, don't just check the forums (although they do tend to be the best source for local information). Anything of importance will be posted on our main page at http://somd.com OR in our Headline News at http://somd.com/news/headlines/

I never listen to them in the car as I have satellite radio and only at home when I am cleaning. Saturday I had on 102.9 and got 15 minutes of dead air!!!! I can understand a 1 or 2 minutes but 15!

NO!

I turned my karma off long ago.. I'm not here to please anyone, I'm just here..

Regarding local radio and their news(?) services, When WMDM was rock and pop, they had a guy named 'Dick' that WAS SOMD news, then came cable and the such.. :blahblah:

And... your name 'Joker'.... My buddy used to sing for a local cover band of the same name.. Any 'Bacon' there?

If they aren't there, I'll do it at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. Listen up, ya hear? I want to know why they were not there. I have questions. I'll be nice.

I will change my station just to listen.... 97.7 doesn't have a DJ in the morning and we are prone to extended dead time for some news broadcasts. The radio comes on at 5:30.... :coffee:

I'm starting to think why bother wasting my time? They don't get it and they never will.

I had a portable radio that picked up maybe two stations, one nothing but classical music, no news at all. I had Sirius for when i got in my car and drove the two blocks to where electricity was :)

You can try to call the offices of SOMAR Communications, but I doubt it'll do much good. A better call might be to the FCC, after all part of SOMAR'S licensing requirements is to be a source of information during times of crisis, like storms, etc. After trying to pick up 98.3 several times Friday evening, and there was nothing but dead air, it doesn't sound like they were meeting that requirement.
