Because they felt like they were neglecting him because they were never home.
Or possibly because he was showing the same signs? Call his previous owners and tell them you're dropping him off this morning. :yay:

Maybe time isn't an option?

You have to be willing to give a dog that isn’t a puppy a chance to adjust to the new environment. Not trying to criticize you (before or after the fact), but someone should have told you that before taking on a dog that was as old as 18 months.

My last two dogs were rescues (one pure breed Am Staff and the other a pure breed Bull Terrier). They were both older than one year when we got them and they had to adjust to the new environment, new people, new diet; you name everything changed for these guys when they came into our home. The Bull Terrier had several bad traits that took a few months for him to get out of his system, so to speak. You just have to be willing to give it time.

The fact that you have young children though and the fact that the dog is exhibiting aggressions tells me that “time” is something that you can afford. This leads me to believe that a puppy is the only choice that you have for bringing a dog into the house. Even a small ankle bitter can maim a child. That doesn’t necessarily rule out the humane society route that others have mentioned in previous threads.

As I mentioned both of my dogs are rescues and out of the all the dogs that I have had through the years, the temperament and love that the rescue dogs give is unparalleled. They seem to have a sixth sense, knowing that you’ve given them another chance…

If I have to explain it, it's no longer funny.
Allow me:

She's referencing the line in Kindergarten Cop where Ahnold tells the hypochondraic kid, "It's not a tumor", which, because of his Austrian accent, comes out "too-mah".

Gone Crazy
Okay so the previous owner wrote back. She told me to take it back to the shelter where they got it from, after they told us if we had any problems they would be happy to get him back to find someone else. Is this crazy sounding or what?

You've been used to take care of their problem. IMO, They knew full well what you were getting into.

I tried that this morning, told her we needed to make arrangements on getting him back to them, and she sent me this email that said we can't do that, and the best thing to do was take it back to where they got him which was to the shelter in hughesville.

Didn't they sign something that said they had to return the dog to the shelter if they don't want him? I don't think they were even allowed to give the dog to you. At least that's how my paperwork reads.

Those were Pit Bulls not rotties :duh:
If a dog has teeth, he can bite. It is all in how a dog is raised & what kind of bloodline they come from. I have a friend who has two pits, & three children all under the age of 7, Have they been bitten yet, NO. Is it possible, yes. If you push an animal to it's limit (just like a person) It will eventually get pizzed & let you know it's pizzed. Pits & Rotties are judged so wrong. It's the bastards that beat them & fight them that make them mean not the dog
