Didn't they sign something that said they had to return the dog to the shelter if they don't want him? I don't think they were even allowed to give the dog to you. At least that's how my paperwork reads.

Oh really, well I dont know. They didn't give me the paper work from when they adopted him. So than how am I going to do this?

Drive to their house with dog. Ring doorbell. Hand them leash. Walk away.

Where are my pants?
So, does anyone know if the hughesville shelter is a no kill or are they all? I would hate to take him back to a kill shelter but, than again I am left with no choice because I dont know anyone to take him to.

I believe that they are permitted to hold stray animals for two weeks-----but "owned ones" (ie, pets that owners decide they no longer want...such as the dog you would be bringing them) can be euthanized immediately.

I tried that this morning, told her we needed to make arrangements on getting him back to them, and she sent me this email that said we can't do that, and the best thing to do was take it back to where they got him which was to the shelter in hughesville.

That right there should tell you they knew the dog had problems. Why would they refuse to take it back if it was a good dog otherwise. I'd take him back to them - tonight!

Yes, usually you sign an agreement stating you'll return the animal to the shelter if you are unable to care for it. Maybe you should go to the shelter and tell them you're story; it would (hopefully) prevent them from donating another dog because clearly they don't care about the one they gave you.

I'd return the dog to the people who gave it to you if I had to tie his azz to the door knob.
:yeahthat: my thoughts exactly! If they aren't home or refuse to answer the door, chain the bastard up to their car door.

THEN, call the Hughesville shelter and report them for not obeying the agreement they signed when adopting him (and yes, that is a stipulation to their adoptions -- that they return him vs give him away).

ARF (Animal Relief Fund) is a no kill shelter out of the Well Pet Clinic. Maybe they could find your dog a home without small children.

Call the shelter and explain your situation. They'll tell you what to do.

Good luck - this is a sucky situation.

I did that and they told me that the previous owners werent suppose to give him to anyone else, that if they should have brought him back to them. and she told me that rottie's do have a tendancy to be overproctective and act like that, and that is why they evaluate wait them more. So she said that we should bring him back and describe what he was doing so that they will know how to evaluate him. They said it would be best to do that instead of keep passing him around....so I guess its a trip to Tri County.

Thanks for all the negative karma from all that couldn't sign it. I do know that the dog has to go and he is going - so your red karma was not called for, and couldn't even sign it.
