How are Leonardtown Restaurants Surviving?

I smell politics. Same thing with Linda's in Ltown. The fix was in to get rid of her. Never had a bad meal at Do Dah, or Linda's.

Do Dah was inconsistent both in the food and service. One day you could have good service and the next day you were sending out a search party for your server. I had good meals and I had meals where the cook forgot major ingredients in the meal - like the spinach in a "florentine".
Never saw the place full. Don't know how it did on the week day lunch time.
I've been to Linda's in the park and was never impressed. Again, service was always a question. Particularly at lunch, people need to get in and out.

I will make one observation about both, and it could have affected service. Staff knew and would shoot the breeze with a few "regulars".

You can't afford to bat .500 in the food service business and that's about what I would guess they did. Half the time good, the other half some sort of problem.

We didn't like seeing Corbel's go, though we had only been there a few times it was well worth it. The problem with restaurants in this county is the residents of the county.

Most arent willing to go out and spend upwards of $100 for nice quality dinner. Quality to most of the them (at least in my opinion) is Outback, Olive Garden, etc... mass produced food from chain restuarants only a step up above fast food... again in my opinion.

Bingo :yay:

You should hear some of the conversations I hear on the bus. People are pissed that we don't get an Olive Garden or *gasp* a Red Lobster in PF. Yep, a Red Lobster. Are you kidding me? With all the great little seafood places we have? :lmao:

Get in, get 'em fed, get 'em out is the mantra for the chains. The tri - county area has hardly any real "tablecloth" restaurants where you go out and dine not just eat. Yanno?

We rarely go out alone but when we do it is to places like Corbels, Cafe D Artiste, Casey Jones, Chefs, local seafood houses, etc...

Now if we have the kids we do go to Salsa's, Outback, etc.. when we have the kids w/ us but that is rare also and only because I wouldnt think of taking them to one of the other places.

That's what I've been harping about for years. There is nothing like a family owned restaurant that actually cares about what they serve. I grew up in that kind of environment, and the chain restaurants were (still) outnumbered by at least 5 to 1. They (chains) were the exception, not the mainstay. You had your choice of type of cuisine (note the word 'cuisine') and if you rotated just your favorites, you wouldn't see the same place for months.

Thank you. There's nothing more annoying than when we go out to a really nice, expensive restaurant and we get seated next to a table of noisy kids!

I have nothing against children, but there are places that you just don't take kids to (unless they're REALLY well behaved).

Of course, some times adults can be pretty rude, too...worse than the kids!

Now that spring is here, look for me at Vera's, the Pier, Stoney's, Reluctant Navigator or Sea Breeze. If it's not on the water with outside dining, forget it.
