I went to a wedding once where the ceremony was something like 3 pm. The reception was 45 minutes away and instead of trying to rush and get there, they planned for the reception to start at 7 pm...and in the invitation stated it would be h'or doerves and desserts. That way, people could go to the wedding, go home and eat, change clothes...whatever....then drive to the reception.

I went to one of those weddings also but it didn't turn out so good. Many folks went to only the ceremony or the reception but not both because it was just too inconvienent. It was pretty sad when at the reception there were tables of people asking each other if they had gone to the ceremony and few had.

Pixie, with 45 minute distance between the two sites, it may happen that some of your guests go to the ceremony or reception but not both.

Pix I say it's your wedding you do what you want...I don't think 45 mins is that big of a deal. I've been to several weddings where the reception was 30 mins to an hour away.
