Hummm what do you think is the difference?

There are probably other differences that aren't getting the San Diego evacuees riled up like New Orleans evacuees. No flood waters, no winds ripping the roof off, no power outages. And maybe the number of evacuees are less in San Diego.

But I agree it is fun to still poke fun at the great unwashed in New Orleans. Ah, they're still animals they are! :yahoo:

For sure, wait till they run out of Evian, steamed shrimp and their laptops batteries run down. Then you'll see some heII break loose.:lmao:

Stereotyping can be quite accurate in some cases. I'm sure there are plenty of blacks, asians, and no doubts mexicans in this arena. Could the fact that they came from fairly upscale neighborhoods be the difference?

The difference is the folks in San Deigo are home OWNERS and the folks in N.O. were renters.

Better preparedness by the local and state authorities is the first thing that comes to mind.

Electricity, water, food, lines of communication, and not being totally cut off from the rest of the state account for most of it.

The first day of these fires, the local governments had already sent a request to the DOD for any and all available aircraft to help with the situation. Nobody waited for the fed to help.

Another point to make is that these fires erupted on Sunday. Not much prep time thre...Louisiana (New Orleans and its residents in particular) were made aware of the potential devastation from Katrina several days in advance.

Kudos to San Diego, Arnold and its people for acting like civil RESPONSIBLE adults, instead of lackadaisical, optimistic imbeciles.

That's because they have a Republican Governor.

Louisiana does now too don't they?

The new gov is the child of Indian immigrants. Guess LA was one of the few states with food suficiently spicy for them. Ever have a packaged curry (from an actual Indian grocer) labeled as MILD? :hot:

Babydoll, I have been called a RINO so many times I've lost count. Yet there's still a "Republican" on my voter registration card. So I am indeed a Republican, whether the party faithful like it or not.

Why is everyone here afraid of the truth. New Orleans was a city full of trash to begin with. Crime rates were astronimical before any storm hit. Ghetto's dwellers empty out much different than middle class white folks. New Orleans was full of drug dealers who had to open up shop in Dallas and other cities. The police in California didnt borrow Caddillacs and fail to return them. In New Orleans probably 25% of those who fled were drug dealers ,prostitutes, welfare whores, probably 50% had criminal records.

Let them call you what they will but stop beating around the Bush. More than a real Government there are a lot of thing different about the places being evacuated. The class of citizen being moved mainly along with the class of Government doing the movement. We all know that. Dont be afraid to say it. Its true.
