Having lived in FL as long as I did, people became complacent about hurricane warnings and often, it was a bad storm or scaled down by the time it hit. Back then, we relied on local news and didn't have TWC.
This hurricane sounds pretty serious and I worry about my good friends in Fort Myers that refuse to leave. Well, HE refuses to leave. His wife wants to go. They have sustained a lot of damage to their home and property in the past.
What I don't understand is why people didn't already have their vehicles fueled up and supplies on hand already? More complacency with a touch of ignorance?
But I have always been a full tank kind of gal so I don't understand letting your vehicle get low on fuel.

PCB is filling up with evacuees. I went out yesterday and traffic was like Spring Break, the hotels and RV parks are busy.

It's because the weather people lose their sh*t for viewers, then it turns out to be nothing. They've cried wolf so many times nobody trusts them anymore and they don't want to go to the trouble and expense of evacuating for what turns out to be a boring storm.

One of our local news channel weather guys is a click-baiter that gets everyone all riled up. The the other is solid with constantly updating information, stern but realistic, and he tells us what it is without being a doom goblin - so far he hasn't steered his audience wrong. If HE tells me to get out, I'm gone.

These horror shows always happen in the middle of the night and it's terrifying. At least during the day you can see but having it happen in the dark is a nightmare. I hope everyone evacuated and didn't decide to ride this one out.
