I am planning a Fall 2012 wedding! I know to some it may seem a little soon to be planning but, I am one who has to have things set in stone long in advance! I am looking to have a small wedding with 80 or less people. I need to find a venue and church; it would be nice to have wedding/reception at same location. I need to find a cake lady/man too! It would be great if anyone has any suggestions or ideas!!!

Go to Vegas. Round trip flight, hotel room and a complete wedding package, including cake, decorations, etc, will be cheaper and more fun than a local wedding. A lot less stressful too.

 Running off to Las Vegas was awesome, and I had a blast!

And if it hadn't been for the pressures from family, there's no question I would have done this in a heartbeat. My second choice would have been on a cruise ship, but they weren't cheap.

Las Vegas seems less stressful but I want family and friends to attend. We are going on a cruise for our honeymoon.

I looked at Greenwell but it was too expensive when I tallied everything up and too far away from where we all will be coming from!

What county are you interested in? Is religion a factor? Indoors? Outdoors?
You are not planning too early. Now is the time to get the place. The rest follows a timeline as well.

Charles County would be best. We want an indoor wedding due to how crazy Novembers weather can be. Religion really isn't a factor. We would prefer a church where we wouldn't have to get confirmed as a member.

Why can't they? Some decent hotels make the rooms dirt cheap. I paid $25/night in Vegas for a room and soon I'll be paying $150/night for the next wedding I'm going to. Flights were comparable. Then the people who can't go could watch it online!

Do you want to get married in a church just for the look? I mean, you could be ruling out some pretty nice venues if that's the case.

Have you looked at Middleton Hall in Waldorf? They have a room for the ceremony and a separate, larger, room for the reception. I've been to a couple weddings there, they were both really nice. Middleton Hall

There's also Swan Point, which is amazing! We looked here for our wedding but it was too far for some of our guests, though it was absolutely gorgeous, so we decided to go with Colony South (and we were VERY happy).

Which brings me to my next suggestion, hehe...Colony South. It's not in Charles County but it's close, in Clinton. We chose to have our ceremony outside in the courtyard but they do have an indoor room for it as well as a larger room for the reception. I loved it there :yay: Colony South Hotel & Conference Center

There's also the Jaycee Hall in Waldorf. 2 of my friends got married there a few years back, it was so nice! Again, they have a few rooms to choose from so you can have both the ceremony and reception there if you wanted (though my friends both only had their receptions there). JC Center Main Page

I never thought of Colony South! And no it does not have to be at a church. Just want something that I could do the ceremony and reception at. I did check into middleton hall and it did seem very nice and was inexpensive as well. I need to make an appointment to go view it!

Any ideas on photographer and cake makers?

We used Videos by Design for both the photos and video, it was something like $3500.00....might want to shop around a little more.

As for the cake, YES! I recommend Cakes by Marie, she's in Waldorf. It was delicious and beeeautiful...3 squared layers, 3 flavors (lemon with raspberry filling, almond with buttercream and red velvet....and there's others to choose from) AND it was only.................................$415.00! For a wedding cake!! Now, she only does buttercream (no fondant), which I prefered anyway. Wedding Cakes

I will have to check them out! Cakes by Marie sound good; I prefer butter cream over the cream cheese icing everyone I know insists upon having!
