I am making sushi

That's what I said last night! I was a little surprised, because the other food was very good & tasted authentic. (enough)

I ordinarily don't go out to a restaurant for Italian anyway, because I'd rather make it myself. But it was for his birthday and his choice. But I'd order the eggplant parmigiana for takeout, even!

I'm the same way. We don't have many restaurants to choose from in Dunkirk so when we go there I usually just stare at the menu. I'll have to try the eggplant next time.

I cook good Italian, and even eggplant parmesian is pretty good, but had even better up at an Italian restaurant around the DC beltway called Magianos. Best Eggplant I've ever had except for my Aunt's.

It's not raw fish, the tuna is cooked. Sushi is about the rice, sashimi is about the raw fish.

Mama Lucia's over here in PF. He & I got the eggplant parmigiana, Thing1 got pizza. The eggplant came with a side of spaghetti & and salad. We thought the salad was icky. (Iceberg lettuce with a couple of cherry tomatoes, maybe 2 slices of cucumer & green bell pepper, & red onion.)

But the eggplant parmigiana was really very good. Almost as good as mine, Thing2 said.

I'm sure yours and Magianos' eggplant is way better than Mama Lucia's!

I love eggplant. My kids do, too, oddly enough. I could eat just a whole batch of fried eggplant myself for dinner.

Of course! I looked all over St. Mary's and finally found one at Ross, buried under a bunch of other stuff. In fact, there were two mats in the kit so I'll gift you one of them in case you want to try your hand at it. (I know how you like to copycat everything I cook to prove you can do better )

That's odd...we at dinner there last week and the salads were really good. :shrug:

We just got a side salad with the dinner and they only used iceberg lettuce. We're used to romaine, arugula,(sp?) and other types of lettuces. I never even buy iceberg lettuce!

I had their honey mustard dressing and I think it was made with yellow mustard! It was actually nasty.

I don't mind the rolls but I was told that is not sushi. Guess they were wrong. I will stick with buying it.

I didn't see that before I made pizza. I made the dough and it had to rise so I actually made mine first at about 2pm

No thanks, I am rice challenged and it is all about the rice. One of the others would be more worthy. Thanks anyway.
