Nothing wrong with a little revolt every now and again.
A non-profitable revolt is like a kiss with no spit.

Beer and Ann Coulter are a bad combination for me. :frown: I turn into Kain.

In that case, then it's time for this thread to evolve into topic of STD's...

Gees. I'm a big fan of small animals, and you're one hundred percent correct. Baby rabbits are prone to heart attacks if they become over excited or startled, and the way the boy was handling the rabbits sounds abusive. I deal with guinea pigs a lot, which are even more skiddish, and you're supposed to scoop them up in your hands and if they're scared first allow them to get used to your hand's presence. In a rabbit's case (NOT a guinea pig) you can sometimes grab them by the scruff of their neck, but I try to not do this. I've bought two guinea pigs from Corner Critters, and the staff handled those well. They could be rude at times, however, so I understand what you're saying. Even if you were incorrect about the way the animals were being handled, there's no excuse for an employee to get an attitude like that with the customer. Don't expect any better at Lori Bee Pet Center, though...they take decent care of their pets but can be extremely nasty when you ask simple questions.

hamsterfang -- Yup, I agree with you. I've been in the Lori B Pet Center too, and honestly wasn't too impressed. All I've got to say is, thank goodness tbat Target carryies small animal food and supplies!! It's quick, inexpensive, and close-by.

I'm not planning on stepping foot inside the Corner Critter pet store anytime soon. (Actually, my picture's probably on their most wanted list for stirring up trouble and :gossip: talking to all of you about my experience there.) Oh well!!

Thanks for keeping this thread alive! Hopefully it's gotten the word out to the community.

Both places that are mentioned here.. BOth suck! My husband and kids and I went looking for a fish store. We used to have fish when we lived in NC and have a 55 gallon tank and a 10 gallon for the kids...We walked into them both.. It was disgusting, my 10 year old daughter asked about the fish...They totally ignored her!!! I got possed adn said something to this person and she got real defensive adn pitched an attitude, i tol dher that i hope her next job has training for ettiquet (ms) and manners because I was calling her boss. SHe shrugged and said whatever.. ( i wanted so badly to reach over that counter..ERRR)
SO we go to C.C... That place sucked!! It was nasty and we walked right back out .. I hope that they have new pet stores soon. And why are they so few around this area? We even drove to a small part of Prince Frederick and found nothing! ( this was about last month).
We did buy two Beta Fish from Walmart for the kids though and a separate tank for each ... THey have lasted a long time. Esp in those Plant vase tanks you can buy. I Was given one by my neighbor as a gift, and the fish are still going!

Is there anything being done about these two stores? I mean this is rediculous.

I have been told the best place to go is in Waldorf but I don't want to go all the way up there...I heard they are building a large pet store somewhere around here but when that will actually happen who knows.

My beta in a plant vase lasted over 2 years....he was my office buddy.

What part of NC are you from? I just moved from Raleigh a month ago.

Just thought I'd add an update...my husband and I went into Critter Corner a couple of weeks ago and noticed that the employees had a much different attitude. We were greeted, smiled at, etc. It was very different experience from last time. (Of course, you know I checked on the buns and they had full water bottles this time around.) Hooray!

Then maybe you did make a difference! Good for you!

Interesting...someone sent me bad karma with the comment "way to save the world." Geez....now my karma on this post is "extremely negative." Hope no one else thought the same thing...just trying to make folks in the community aware of a possible problem with the store. (Maybe it was an employee?)

Isn't there a manager around that place that you could complain to? Although I suppose if they're meant to be some snake's dinner, it probably doesn't matter how they're treated. :ohwell: But you have to wonder about some kid that would torment an animal like that, food or no food.
well i didnt read all of this but i know a kid from my highschool worked there, his parents owned the place... i heard he used to take baby mice (pinkeys he called them) and threw them at the ground so the 'exploded'

maybe why he had the "i dont care attitude" same with the other employee...

Yikes, that's pretty disgusting. (Not to mention horrible and inhumane!) It's amazing how someone can actually think that that is "okay" or "normal" behavior. I hope that's not happening there now...

He graduated with me and is still in the county and still has to make car payments, so im sure he still works there... if he does it or not is a different story

My Buns

I have gone to CC twice and refuse to go back. I have a lop and a dwarf rabbit I couldn't stand how nasty CC was. Since I refuse to go to Walmart, I go to the BJ's in Waldorf to get their food and bedding. I find the BJ's in California hardly carries it. I did report CC to the humane society for how I saw the employees treating some of the animals. I think they are truly disgusting.

Wow! Thanks for stepping up and doing something when you saw the need arise  Hopefully others will do the same if they see similar things happen.
