I thought there was a program called MD Kids count or something that as long as the income is below 30k they qualified?
Same thing happened to my friend. Father never paid but she got state medical, once he went to jail and the arrears were no longer monies being owed to the state, the medical stopped.

I know two girls.. One is married to a man who works 7 days a week, and is an army veteran. They have a wonderful, sweet daughter who gets regular abuse from one of the members of their household because they can't afford to live anywhere else. She quit her job and pulled her daughter out of pre-school so that this she can protect her daughter from being called every thing from a "wh@re" to a "useless cvnt". That have no other options, DSS turned them down for housing and her medical was cut of since her husband makes too much money.
Meanwhile, the other girl's husband leaves her for being a pill head, pilfering all their savings to buy things like cosmetic contact lenses and 20 pairs of name brands shoes, and being a basic POS. This chick walks in to DSS, claims to be crazy and now has her own apartment, no bills to pay, child support and doesn't even have to work..
It makes me want to choke her..
It's all in how you work the system over there... Most of the time the wrong people are getting the services.. Hell if I had 5 kids and all their daddies were in jail.. I could have my kids sporting new Nike's and Gap jeans....
I'm sorry, I would live in a homeless shelter before I would allow my child to be subjected to that kind of treatment! That poor child is going to be seriously messed up for life!
