Dear Karma Giver,
No, I am not Mother of the Year. However, my 2 and a half year old gave up the bottle at 9 months and the pacifer 14 months.

They admit they have no clue
I don't think these people have a clue.....period. Why are they attempting to raise their daughter's child when they admittedly can't even raise their own? Even animals care enough to wash their babies regularly! Please don't take offense -- I realize you are in the middle of all of this and you care for these people but I don't think you are helping them any by taking reponsibility for their grandchild's hygiene and eating habits. The parent(s) need to do that. I would be calling social services or at the very least recommending some parenting classes.

I never wanted my daughter to use one so I never gave it to her.
I did not give my son one. He did not use one until he was 2 days old. When he had his little winky surgery the SMH nurses gave one to him. From that point on he needed one to get him to sleep. Now, baby girl was a whole other story. She thought that she could use ME as her pacifier. Nope. Nipped that in the bud but giving her a real one. I could not handle being snacked on every 20 minutes so that she could go to sleep. :ohwell:

But wait, there's more...
Speaking of binkies ...

DQ's cousin Colin is about 6 weeks older than her, but has always been a really stocky kid (he'll be a football player when he's older :yay:). Her first birthday, she lost her binky and managed to tackle him down to the floor, plucked his outta his mouth, and popped it in hers, almost to say, "HAAA! Take that!" Ain't much changed in little Ellie May since.

I feel a lot better now.

I know I stress about situations, then just a simple conversation smooths it all out. :huggy:

Then of course there are those times when you set out to have a simple conversation, and it turns into a nightmare.

The Grandparents & the Mother were here to pick up the kid @ 4:30 today. Since hubby was home from work I left him the the kids and we all went into the dining room to talk, and have a cup of coffee & talk. I was surprised to see how receptive they were to my suggestions. It was a good talk.
They told me they appreciated it when I washed the kids hair. Especially since the kid won't let them do it.

You know....when the parents & grandparents were here she was showing off beyond belief! Doing stuff she wouldn't normally do for me....because I won't let her or anyone else get away with that behavior. She was pushing the other kids down, taking their toys, ...just being a bully. NO ONE did or said anything to the kid! I was enraged, so I got up....walked over to the kid, took her by the hand and put her in Time out. She screamed and threw a fit. Then she got up and went over to her Grandmom & Mom.. I said to her...."oh no you don't!" Nanny said time out. So you sit here till I say to get up. She screamed & threw another fit, but she did sit there. I just looked at the Grandparents & the Mother. They looked back at me and shrugged. Then they got up and left.

Now....let's see what Monday brings.

:faint: Won't LET them? It's a toddler...they're adults (supposedly). Someone needs to watch Nanny911 or Supernanny....good grief.

On a side note, boy hates water getting in his eyes when we wash his hair, so I found a cheap solution (other than trying to convince him that if he tilts his head back, the water will run down his head, not his face). Walmart sells these foam visors (only $.97) for kids to decorate....they are perfect "bath hats." Boy loves his, and you can pour water directly on his head and nothing will get on his face...but it's a visor, so it's easy to wash his head. :yay:

What a great idea... sure wish I had thought of that when mine were little. And what a handsome boy!

Cute! I just told mine to suck it up and he eventually got over it (I've always shielded his eyes with my hand on his forehead). Now he purposely tilts his head forward when I rinse it off. Kids. :lmao:

You are more right than you know!
I am making excuses because I saw this child from birth. A drug addicted child that actually died a couple times.
This child was in my care when I actually saved her life performing CPR on her when she stopped breathing.
Jeses, help me....this is so hard.

Are you sure the behavior problems are a result of the childs diet? I think that there are other factors here.
