My advice (not that you asked for it) - don't tell any of your family, just send them invites for the big day. The more people that know you're planning a wedding, the more forceful opinions you'll have to deal with.

Oh if I could only do that: He had my mom go with to help pick out the ring and his mom already knew, then he asked me Friday night and Saturday night was the family Christmas party so it spread like wild fire. It has already started with everyone elses opininons, I just ask them are you paying for it? then you have no say so SORRY!!

My mom and I had two big blowouts during the wedding planning hoopla. One was over personalized napkins. If I had to imagine all the things I would have ever thought I would argue with my mother over, personalized napkins would not have been on the list.
