What's so good about them?

Oh come on! What, do you live under a rock?!

These are the fantastic selling points of the iPod series devices:

They're hundreds of dollars for a relatively small harddrive space....

You have to deal with proprietary download sites where you pay $2 a song.....

It's nearly impossible to swap the song format to enable it to play on anything other than an Apple product.....

I bought the exact same thing as the Video iPod 3 years ago, for $200 less.....

And now the iPhone:

It costs even MORE....

You get even less hard drive space....

And you can talk into it!

What's not to like?!
(besides the fact that a regular old verizon phone with a 4 GB microsd can do the exact same thing.... for about $300 less)

Since when? I've never had any problems with it.

But I'd never buy an iPhone.

That's the main complaint I get from anyone with an iPod who comes into our store.

They always say that, if you download the music from iTunes, it's nearly impossible to get it to play in a cd player or anything. I wouldn't know... never fell into the trap.

But, thanks for proving my point. An actual iPod owner, and that's the one thing he/she disagrees with. :killingme:

I have the 6GB Mini. It was a gift, almost three years ago, and I use it daily. I download my music exclusively from iTunes, where I can purchase a CD for $9.99, as opposed to the 15 or so dollars they charge in a store. I burn CDs from iTunes all the time, and have been successful in converting from m4p to mp3/wav/wma whenever necessary. As of yet, I have zero complaints. Granted, they are considerably more expensive than comparable systems, but whatever floats your boat, right? I think mocking someone based on their choice of music player or cell phone is a little juvenile.

I just mock the company for making it.
Shoot, I think they're geniuses. Punks lined up for days to spend $600 on a phone? Somebody's crazy, and it's not Apple. :giggle:

I read there is a new version coming out by Christmas anyway. Apparently they didn't realize 3g (or maybe 4, I'm not technology savvy) would be available when they made this phone so they are scrambling to make one with this feature.

Even if your job at the store is on the cleaning crew, you should know about Nero and similar products.

I'm the floor manager... I have people who clean for me. I meant I didn't know personally how difficult it is. I always recommend nero or roxio, but I've heard people say, even when using burning software, it's still hard to do.

But, like i said, I wouldn't know how hard it actually is because I would never put down the money for one. But, to each their own. I'm sure there are hundreds of people who feel the same about my Nintendo Wii as I feel about your iPhone. Just different strokes for different folks.

And, honestly, how much of a fanboy does someone have to be to leave blank, negative karma just because I said "I don't like iPod".

I just use the CD burner program that is included in Windows Media Player, works just fine for me and its free!

well, you guys are obviously already technologically savvy.

some of my customers have absolutely no idea what they're doing.
one of them even admitted they never owned a computer.

for people that don't use electronics very often, and just wanted a way to carry music and videos, maybe the instruction booklet isn't clear or understandable?

like I keep saying, I would not know.... I was simply stating I don't feel that the iPod was as important or groundbreaking a device as everyone always says it is. And, for my money, I found much better for less elsewhere.

Obviously I'm not the only one who feels this way... (read every post on this forum from members other than you two), so why jump on my back? lol
