Rocky Mountain High!!
DC is insane today, i'm guessing due to the explosion in London....the blocks between us and the white house are evacuated and scared people, police/firetrucks/hazard trucks are everywhere - streets (ours included all the way around the block) are shut down...the red line is shut down due to a suspicious package at Bethesda...
:frown: i want OUT of the city :dead:

Nothing to see here
I think its due to unconfirmed reports of a K_Jo and Mrs Jones sighting in the vicinity of the Executive Office Building.

The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

Suspicious packages reported in both places (red line metro Bethesda - and on the opposite side of the block as our building between us and the white house)....i think everyone is just on super high alert. They are going to elevate the threat level to Orange (high) for Mass transit in DC, New York, Boston and Atlanta due to the 4 explosions in London 3 in the subway and one bus blown up this morning...not sure what exactly that means to us Keller commuters... :frown: homeland defense guy (Chirnoff?) will be on tv @ 11:45 to tell us what all that means.

I'm on the 1400 block. evacuated people come to the other side of the street as their evacuation meeting place, and the streets around us are all closed.

I was up at the monuments last night on the bike and left my back pack up there. :banghead:
....Last year my supervisor left his silver briefcase at the vendor on the corner by our building, and when he went back to retrieve it, they were about to blow it up  he caused quite a ruckus, and we won't let him live it down. :lmao:

Did you also start fires as a child PT?

If they elevate to orange, it won't change a thing I wouldn't think. Keller ran it's normal routes every time the level was raised. The even came into town on 9/11 to pick up people. The didn't come into town the next day, but dropped off at metro stations.

NOOOOOOOOOOO :shocking:

Good grief....I don't want to become complacent...but GEESH.....where does one draw the line?

Well, what can you do?

I was here on 9/11. I was terrified and I had to suck it up and hike to L'Enfant Plaza (across the mall) because Otter couldn't get to me and he had the car. Fighter jets flying over head, military all over the place with guns, etc. Granted it wasn't New York City, but it was frightening to me just the same because we didn't know what was coming next.

I still get nervous when I see the planes coming into National to land as they go past my building's windows.

I just try to keep my eyes open and be a little aware but if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen.

Funny, a few weeks after 9/11 I was walking down K Street. All of the sudden I heard this huge bang and thought I was dying. I looked around and the mailman had dropped his huge cart on the street.

I was ALWAYS getting in trouble...I'd wait for the neighbor to come home, in hiding. EVERYDAY, he'd throw his cigarette out in the driveway before going into the house. I'd run and get it and start a fire, somewhere, usually in the driveway or backyard, just trying to see what would burn and what wouldn't usually. And they were small fires, not like I was roasting the neighbors cat or anything, but yea, mom was always running outside yelling at us, or for us if she coulsn't see us cuz the smoke seemed to ALWAYS go RIGHT into the kitchen window, no matter where we were.
