Idiotic anti gun...

Ok...

Not really. The guy in TX actually caught the burglars in the act. Taylor just suspected the guy of stealing his ATV.

And the guy in TX acted right away, while the crime was occurring. He didn't wait, then go after the burglars later.

....color me shocked that you see something wrong with beating up criminals and threatening them.

Lets wait and see what happens with the police investigation. I'm sure there is more to it then what has been reported.

Problem is, recidivism is more common than not, and what if the judge that sentenced said convict was easy on him or he plea bargained?

But yeah, even so, a criminal would find a way to obtain a gun outside the law.

Was Taylor still on probation from the other incident? Or was that over with?

Sure he was still on probation but he is considered felon I believe so according to the current laws he cannot own a gun.

ETA- Larry's post is probably more accurate.

...but the son of a cop who WAS a keeper and bearer of arms isn't likely to have gone to see who was breaking into his house with a knife.

...he was. Let me guess; you feel sorry for the poor guys who robbed him, too?

nope, but you gotta remember that is only alleged unles they have been convicted....

and it still means that this tool used a gun to threaten someone during an assault. He should not be allowed to own ANY weapons IMO.

...know anything about this case, do you? Very solid way to form and opinion.

There was NO debate over whether Taylor had been robbed nor by who. He got in more trouble for accosting them for stealing from him than they did for stealing from him.

Still sound like a just reason to prohibit a person from defending his home? PS; Note he did not have a gun and used a machette.

Some thug.

Shawn Taylor got in trouble for brandishing a firearm several years ago

and yes, even with a machette he sounds like a thug and he should nt be allowed to own a gun or a machette

What is the justification for anyone to (legally) keep a firearm ?

If its Self Defense, shouldnt a convicted criminal, who paid their debt to society (if they served a sentence they did pay that debt), also be awarded that same right?

Like it or not, when someone serves a sentence after a conviction, our Society has stated that they paid their debt. I do not understand why they lose these rights, if they are still granted other rights and representation.

If Society is going to say, after serving their sentence they are no longer afforded the Inalienable Rights granted to all, why do we then allow them other Inalienable rights as well?

i dont know, but they do lose their right to vote and own a gun. Something i consider a good thing.
I dont know why you folks think a murderer who is released is somehow reformed or reprogramed. they are not and the recidivism rate should tell you that.

But isn't probabtion or parole viewed as (technically) still serving your time since they are substitutes for actually sitting in jail?

It shouldn't matter. Then we should restrict their right to own knives, hammers, fists..... guns aren't the only tool of a murderer you know?

I havent' seen anything yet that said the guy Taylor beat up and threatened was in fact the guy that stole his ATV. Which doesn't mean it's not true, just means I haven't seen it in the extensive news coverage.

Regardless, if someone stole YOUR ATV, is that how you'd handle it? Grab a gun and go beat the guy up? Because if it is, you and I need to discuss a few things.

That said, if Taylor had shot at the guys *while* they were stealing his ATV, I'd say right on, brother. But he didn't.

ok, i say we let all the murderers out of jail, give em guns and have them come live with you then.......

BTW, i say we should restrict them to owning NO weapons.

...so, if Shawn commits a personal foul, part of his penalty is he has to play without a helmet?

The Titanic sinks and they aren't allowed to put more lifeboats on the next ship?

A home burns down and they are forbidden from having smoke detectors and fire extinguishers?

Shawn went after criminals and got in more trouble.

That's justice to you?

...actually making less sense as you go along.

We're talking about a right to self defense in ones OWN HOME.

well you did do one thing with that post that made sense, you ignored the fact that you originally said that taylor brandished a gun........

the rest was just a bunch of bull honky.
