iPhone versus Android

So when I was at Verizon yesterday because my Droid suddenly had a wigging out keyboard and I could not text or email from it, they informed me I can upgrade to a new phone in a couple days.

I think the iphone is pretty cool but not sure I want to make the leap. I started with a webphone, went to a BB now a Droid. I buckled and am not googlecentric IE: Gmail, google calendar, google chat and google maps/directions.

#1. If I switch will I still be able to use google applications.
#2. What are the pro's / con's as you al see them for iPhone v. Droid.
#3. Are iPhone apps mostly free like droid apps or do they nickel and dime you to death?

Droid. Unless you want to pay for every app you want. I plyed with my mom's iphone 4s..the siri thing doesn't work very well and you have to actually PAY to get angry birds. No way. DROID all the way.

If I buy an iPhone won't it make me sexier and more attractive? Does it do it automatically or do I have to buy and ap for that? How much is the ap?

What?!
With Apple there is no 3rd party apps but still plenty of freebies, including Angry Birds  The siri feature is neat to play with, I don't use it a lot. After Anroid pushed that stupid freakin software update to my Droid 2 and jacked it all up, that better much did me in and I said eff Droid  I LOVE my Iphone! I have had no issues at all with it. It doesnt hang up like my droid did. You can still use Google whatever you want with an Iphone also.

They do nickel and dime you to death, but the apps are worth it if you're not just in it for the games. I have one that uses my iPhone as a remote for my computer, I can move the mouse around and everything. I even shelled out $5 for RDM which allows me to access my computer from anywhere (I can turn it on and email myself a file that I need, that sort of thing).

It's faster, less glitchy, and far more intuitive than any other phone I've had. I didn't hate my Droid UNTIL I got my iPhone and realized how crappy it was in comparison.

Also, I have an iPhone 4, and got it recently. Nearly all of the glitches are worked out of it, and I can't imagine the 4S is as smooth as 4 yet. But considering they're still planning on coming out with 5 soon, it may just have been a few small updates and throwing Siri on there to make more profits. I would totally switch to 4S if I could though. I just want to screw with Siri.

Men shouldn't have iphones, those are girly phones :drama:

99 cents for every version of angry birds

Siri is kind of fun. but she is glitchy as all get out, and "misunderstood" me a lot. the talk to text is awful as well. But I did have fun asking siri all kinds of innapropriate questions...:killingme

If you like to customize, Android. If you're happy with whatever Apple lets you have, iPhone.

As for free/paid apps, I looked it up a while ago and I think ~2/3 of Android apps were free while only ~1/3 of iOS apps were free.

Also, there are three big Android players on Verizon now...the Moto RAZR, the HTC Rezound, and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (coming later this week?). Personally, I'm not a fan of HTC's Sense UI, but some are. The RAZR is pretty badass all around. The GNex will come with the new Android 4.0 OS and has a massive 4.65" 720p-capable screen.

Oh, and if you load up the Amazon app store, you get a free app each day. Most of them are games, some of them are pretty crappy, but occasionally they have a high-end app like QuickOffice Pro.

Personally, I think the droid is easier to use, but the iPhone is cooler. As much as I like Apple products, I've just never been a huge fan of the iPhone, but hubby loves his and gets the new version each time.

Go with the iPhone. I think you'd enjoy it! :yay:

my iPhone 4S rocks ...... I upgraded from a Original Black Razr .... :faint:

apps do not cost that much ....... unless you are getting business apps most are .99 or 1.99

I spend more on smoking in a month than I have in the 6 weeks I have had my iPhone

OH and I cannot wait to Jailbreak my iPhone ...... I AM NOT paying sprint another $ 30 bucks so my iPhone can be a mobile hot spot

How does everyone feel about touch-screen phones? I am considering an iPhone, but can't decide if I am going to be happy without the slide out QWERTY keyboard. I feel like the touch-screen would be difficult to use.

You do have to speak clearly, not in Ebonics ..... I love asking Siri what she is wearing ......

the 1st answer I got was 'You Must Be Asking the Wrong Personal Assistant'

I will admit that I have a voice not unlike a barbie on speed, and have awful luck with anything voice recognition..but she was glitchy, didn't understand several times, using her to text someone resulted in crazy texts, and i got strange responses several times. It's a neat idea, but I don't really see th epoint of it, and my mom rarely uses her, its more a pain than its worth

I just got the 4s, from the Droid Incredible. The Incredible is a sketchy pile of #### compared to the iPhone. I've paid for some apps that were free with Droid and they are all better. The 99 cents (in most cases) won't break you. The only real disadvantage that I can see so far is the packaged free 'navigation' app sucks and no google star map app. Also it syncs automatically with my iMac. I have no regrets!

I recently switched phones to one with a slide-out keyboard after almost 2 years of not having one. I HATED the experience of the virtual keyboard. Spent so much time correcting typos and was constantly frustrated with it. I will never buy a phone without a keyboard again.
