Is it possible for gays to go to heaven?

Surely the Bible says something about sitting around, striking up conversation about who we think is going to heaven...

Regardless... clumping people is ridiculous. Asking "Can gays get into heaven" is no different than asking "Is my neighbor going to heaven? Is my brother going to heaven?" Who sits around doing that? I know you gave a scenario, but there is so much more in there than just being gay. You don't know every gay person to know if a blanket statement would cover them.

I have noticed this shift from "We all fall short of the glory of God" to "I'm not gay, so I'm safe..."

Sorry I disagree, it’s not a discrimination against a people group, but rather a fact, that anyone who is engaged in willful rebellion against the Lord and his teachings, who is living in sin, cannot be saved.

Christ said why do you call me Lord and not obey my commands. If self is the God of your life than Christ is not! Christianity is not a buffet were you pick and chose. It's giving Lordship of your life to Christ and becoming a salve to righteousness. Many name the name of Christ and He will say depart from me I never knew you!

Anyone that was gay and has given their life to Christ can no longer be called that or acting upon it, as they would be a new creature in Christ and not a slave to sin and under the curse of that law.

In 1st Corinthians 6 verses 9 Paul tells us “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

John tells us in Revelation chapter 21 in verse 8 “But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death."

Scripture speaks and is quite clear on the subject!

The important thing to remember here, in my opinion, everyone can find Salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ. Once man accepts Jesus as Lord and Savior there will follow the desire to follow His example.

Once saved, remember, we're all human and we all sin even when we don't want to. We need to ask Him to forgive us and help us get back on the path. The person originally used as an example in this thread may or may not have found Salvation. That's between the Lord and this man.

If he did indeed find Salvation, he has found Salvation by the Grace of God. If he didn't find Salvation and in fact only pretended to be saved, then he still has the opportunity to take that step, as long as there is life in his body.

Salvation is not something we can earn. Our salvation is not measured by how good we are at avoiding temptation. When I read the quotes you are giving us Stonethrower, I'm convinced that it's the Grace of Salvation they are discussing. I'm convinced John and Paul were telling us that we need to ask Jesus for His Saving Grace.

Once we find Salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Spirit will lead us from there as we strive to be like Christ. We'll stumble and fall, it's in our DNA.... but if we are keeping our eyes on Jesus, we will get back on our knees and then we will be able to walk in His path again. He's always there to help us. He's always there to intercede for us.

Right now Satan is there to point out every single little thing we do that is not perfect. Jesus is there to speak on our behalf. God loves His Son, Jesus Christ, and He listens to Him.

There are straight, sober, good, caring, benevolent church leaders who have brought thousands of believers to Christ who will not go to Heaven because they themselves never asked the Lord Jesus Christ into their heart.

1 Corinthians 6:9&10 (New International Version)

9: Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10: nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Well, apparently the Kingdom will have lots of room...

Taken out of context..... Reading the next line changes everything....

11: And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

And that's what Jesus Christ has done for us all....

Glad you followed that up. That is why I do not have a huge desire to follow some certain types of religions. It is way too easy to take a historical document, turn it into an authoritative mandate and then have people cherry pick it to suit an agenda.

Me too. But perhaps the poster defines "gays" as unrepentant sinners engaging in homosexual activity and that's what they were referring to? The original post was very vague and some might define it that way where as others might just define it as attraction.

In the case of the unrepentant active homosexual, it is not out of context because the poster would not have been talking about a person justified by Christ aka Christians.

I wouldn't have known to do that if I didn't have faith.... and if I hadn't read the book....
