Is Park Dodge in trouble?

It's a business. Times are economically challenging for the consumer, so sales are not there. You cannot expect the dealer to purchase a whole lot full of cars that he knows he cannot sell....

Hello everyone!I'm one of the sales managers at Park Dodge,Chrysler,Jeep;and I assure you that we aren't going anywhere! There is some truth to the fact that we have trimmed our inventory based on a changing economy. It has more to do with getting new products that you the consumer have told us you want, both through sales and conversation(ex:fewer Rams and Durangos, more Calibers and other fuel efficient models).Compounding the issue is that the transition at the manufacturer level from 08s to 09s is occuring, not to mention that we've been blessed with a very successful summer sales season(more great cars and trucks going out than coming in)!And just as a reminder...If you don't see it here,we can probably get it within a day or two! Thanks for being such a great community in which to do business!-Shane

My Vega was a piece of crap, It had a bad rattle in the right rear quarter that turned out to be an empty pint whiskey bottle inside the fender.
It ate tires, front end would not stay in alignment. It had 22,000 miles when it died and had gone through 3 tires and another needed replacement.

My first new car was a '72 Chevy Vega.
Other then a '78 CJ7 jeep, it was also the last time I purchased an American brand auto.
For the most part, I can get a lot more of what I want from an import for the money.

They never seemed to have what I wanted. No bias against them, just not my cup of tea :) I did own a small Mitsu sedan for a year or two up in Maine, did its job. Borrowed a Honda sedan for a week back in 95, lent a buddy my 89 Ranger.

ITs all in the needs statement you do in your head when looking, and everyones is going to be different.

I will note most anything built in Detroit in 72 had aspects that would make it a piece of crap in one way or another:)

For Gawd's sake and for the last time, I have had 3 Dodge/Chrysler vehicles in the past 12 yrs. and have yet to have a problem with any of them! Why do you people insist on putting them down when they are just like any other car out there! Sometimes you get lemons, it doesn't matter what make the car is it just freakin happens! I have owned all sorts of different makes of cars and have loved them all, what is the deal with people putting down different makes of cars??? WHO FRICKEN CARES as long as YOU like the vehicle what does it matter what other people think??? :drama:

I've never had any problems with all Dodge and Chrysler vehicles since I started driving.

If you takes a good care of your vehicles, it last for a long time.

Having owned a Dodge (regretfully) and hearing tales of woe from others I stand by my opinion. When a service manager tells you "83,000 is a lot of miles for a motor, what do you expect?" you tend to lose faith in the brand.

Maybe in 1970 it was.

In 2001 I had a salesman at Bayside Toyota tell me "I would drive anything but a F'in Dodge", two months later guess who was working at Park Dodge.

Back to the residual value..

If what you say is the case, why does Chrysler devalue their cars moreso than other car manufacturers.. Even they know they sell an inferior product, and even they won't give more than 30 - 35% for their own cars after 3 years.

It's a business decision, geez, I don't understand why you get your panties in such a knot with me. Have I EVER met you?? Have I EVER pee'd in your Corn Flakes??? I didn't think so. WTF??

I have worked for a few car dealers and they do not purchase new cars outright in general. It's a thing called a floor plan. The manufacture sends the cars and the longer they sit on the floor plan the more they pay for them, meaning less potential profit for the dealer. That is why they will "DX" them from one place to the other.

I worked for a car dealer that went out of business and I can tell you first hand when an employee has to jump in their car and drive straight to the bank and cash their check, the writing is on the wall.

Keep in mind though as long as there are new cars on the lot they are still in business. They are probably just not packing the lot due to the fact that car sales in general are down.

What gives you the idea that my "panties are in a knot"?

I give you points to debate and you have no intelligent answer so I must be ANGRY with you??

You're the one that said all cars are the same, and I offered you a difference to explain.. if all things being equal.. why?

If you don't know it's okay to say I don't know, don't take it personal.. I mean WTF??

I did give you an answer, it's business, and that's how the cookie crumbles in this world. What pissed me off was that every time I say something you seem to jump on it like white on rice. I did NOT say all cars are created equal, I said in all car lines there are lemons, big difference, pay closer attention, or do you suffer from ADHD or something to that affect?

Look around, I do that to almost everybody not just you, you aren't special. Well maybe you are special, and I hurt your self esteem?

I'm sorry, you're a genius.
