No problem Granville. Sometimes I forget that not everyone shares the same ability or experiences. I just find it easier, safer, and cleaner to use the house wiring versus stretching out extension cords all over the place. I even built my own junction cord for the job and it will handle a lot more then the 4kw generator that I use.

I have been looking into one of those 20kw propane units with automatic start up, but for now I will survive on my little machine.

I have a dumb question. Why is everyone clearing the shelves of bottled water? Isn't it just as easy to just start filling up some containers with tap water?

I think the only "disaster kit" item I don't already have laying around the house is batteries.

I'd love to have brand new windows, so I'm skipping the plywood.

I believe you have an overly optimistic view of the world.

If it makes you feel better, I'll refrain from rushing the grocery store and buying up your share of bottled water.

Having been thru a natural disaster, where electricity, clean running water , roads etc... have been non-existent for MONTHS. I've learned not to sweat the small stuff. We don't live in third world country. They can truck water, food, and shockingly enough shelter to anywhere in this country in a matter of a day or so after a natural disaster.

Sooooo, I do hope there isn't rioting at the Giant over the last bottle of water and bag of beef jerkey. JMHO

You are absolutely NO FUN! I'm looking forward to hooking and swinging over all of the items we will need to survive!

I got gas for the grill, batteries in the TV/Radio, flashlights and candles. I have some water and will fill some jugs, that's it. If the electric goes out, I guess we will playing cards.

I'm totally unimpressed with this "emergency". Especially since I'm facing a REAL emergency - the discontinuation of Pete's Wicked Helles Lager! Our liquor store gal is a friend of mine (how's that for strategic alliances?) and she says she has 1 1/2 cases left and then it's no more.
:bawl:

So while you all are stocking up on bottled water, I'm going to be hitting all the liquor stores to get the last :)bawl:) of the Helles Lager.

And while you're there picking up your lager, V., see if they've got Hornsby's cider. I don't drink anymore but if I could find that stuff I might start up again.

I REALLY need new shingles, but all joking aside. This has gone from a #4 to a #3, but my question is this. It is going to cross warmer water in the next 24-hours, could it increase intensity?
