nascar is turning into cart, a few teams owning all the cars.
that's why i follow dirt late model racing. better show and still affordable
to spectate and participate.

You're an idiot.
The coffin was nailed shut when the National Association of STOCK CAR Racing quit racing STOCK CARS
:yeahthat:

Go back to stock cars actually available to the public (with neccessary safety improvements like roll cages, fire systems and plastic windows for the race cars) and I bet there'd be a huge increase in fan base.

do you want to go picking up the dead bodies off the racetrack? there's a reason they race what they race

No there wouldn't. SPEED tried airing World Rally Championship. It didn't get enough viewers to merit even being on SPEED.

I have no interest in rally cars. I have an interest in NASCAR. Different fan base.

I think it's great that Richard Petty will finally stop tainting his family's legacy after all these years with that awful team.

Of course there's a reason, but you're still an idiot.
Why would there be bodies all over the track? NASCAR ran stock cars for YEARS without major carnage.
Specing the engines and chassis allowed NASCAR to liscense their manufacture and use. Just another way to make money that they wouldn't get if they allowed auto manufacturers to produce cars that met published specifications.
Did you know the NASCAR engines run on leaded gas?

You're the idiot.

Want to go over the death toll over the last 5 years as compared to any 5 year streak when they were running the old cars and the "stock cars?"

People die at local short tracks all the time... in "stock cars."

Did you know the NASCAR engines run on leaded gas?

Wrong.

Wrong.

And your point?

They make huge money to entertain me..

If they die in the process, part of the job.

And you can't tell me a modern car, with some modifications, can't be as safe as a current NASCAR car capable of close to 300 MPH.

Technology has come a ways since the 60's and 70's yanno..

Well... I'm sure NASCAR would like to hear some of your ideas... as would ARCA, ASA, USAR, and even the auto manufacturing companies would like to hear your ideas.

Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you. :jet:

Quite contraire..

If they EVER want me to be a fan, and turn the channel to watch, THEY have their work cut out..

At this point I couldn't care less. Never watch it, and think it ludicrous to waste an afternoon watching left turn after left turn in Chevy's that have absolutley NO connection with GM..

I prefer F1..

Stock car racing should be just that: Stock Car, on roads, and run no matter the weather.. I mean, I have to drive my car when it's raining, and these are supposed to be professioal drivers, they should be able to figure it out too.

Bob...they have small blocks.., and without restrictor plates, they would run 250..easily.....

F1? You mean that crumbling series that runs specialty-built overly exotic open wheel cars that aren't avaliable to people at all? :killingme That's ironic! :killingme

THE most entertaining road course racing series is the Grand-American Rolex Sports Car Series.

Or are those cars not stock enough for you either, Bobby?

Tell me, where in F1 do they represent themselves as STOCK?? They don't.

And they actually need to drive their cars.. No banked corners, so they actually need and use brakes that have to last an entire race. They actually take left AND right turns, which means your car can't be made or tuned to only turn one direction.. cars actually have to adapt to different road surfaces and turns.. up hills, down hills.. braking.. hairpin turns, not 1/2 mile long sweepers where you can take the entire turn on the throttle.

So the cars are exotic, but I think the drivers are much more talented, and the DRIVING is actually closer related in their exotics to our daily driving than any Nascar race.

Yet only one F1 driver has come to NASCAR and scored a victory. :killingme

I've always said the best NASCAR races are the road course races.

BTW Bobby, you might want to look at F1. Their drivers use power steering as well. As does IndyCar.

And if you don't believe NASCAR uses brakes, go to Richmond or Martinsville.

And I agree, the superspeedways do suck. :boo: I've gotten to the point I'll only watch ARCA at the big tracks.
