It's official now - Apple will take over the world

The new IPad - I don't even know where to begin with this product and the services relating to it. Once again, Steve Jobs has over-delivered on expectations that were through the roof going in. This thing won't be a product category killer, it will be a product categories killer.

Unlocked 3G
Price points from $499-$829
Incredible functionality and ease of application creation

This product will have profound effects on conventional notions of content delivery, content interaction and content ownership. It may take a bit for the world to appreciate the impact this product will have, but it will be enormous.

... It's an over sized iphone.

Give me 5 features this thing does that iPhone doesn't already do?

Actually, the iPhone can call, text, MMS and all that #### which the iPad doesn't do.

That's typical conventional tech world thinking. It's not about features - it's about interaction.

This device will change the way we interact with, own, and pay for media - books, video, music, TV, news, magazines - everything.

In 5 years, this device and its content delivery mechanisms will have taken over the media world in the same way that the IPod and Itunes took over the music world. This product will obsolete product categories, having created an entirely new comprehensive one.

I cannot stand that name. It sounds like Apple's version of a feminine hygiene product.

Michelle Caruso-Cabrerra said the same thing. There was speculation that they were gonna call it ISlate - which I think would have been cooler. I'm getting over my initial dislike of the name IPad though.

Are you even looking at the reaction around the net? No one is going to buy this.

It will go the way of the mac book air. It is entirely a gimmick. I already have my iPhone which delivers music, news, magazines to me just fine, and it fits in my pocket. If I really wanted something 10" diagonal do any of that #### I can just turn on the tv, look at a magazine, or open the internet with my computer which is all an arms reach, because I would be at my home.

Its a netbook replacement. It will have a market.

This is not a phone. Interaction with most media (books, movies, internet browsing) does not work well on phone type devices. They are too small and you can't manipulate the content with your hands like you can with this.

This replaces so much stuff and simplifies media interaction (and life in general).

The only problem I see so far with this device is the connection with AT&T.

You know, except for the fact that there is no method what so ever to put data on this with out using itunes, or the app store, etc. And its also 200-400$ more expensive than a netbook.

You have an app that moves it over. You just like to argue, its amusing

I can browse the internet almost flawlessly on my iphone. Movies... really? You are going to download a movie on to a 10" screen just to watch it on a tablet? In your house? Waiting for it to load via a slow as #### dock/wifi? Books, sure it might have a market for books, but even the kindle has a pretty small market, plus it is far cheaper.

What do you mean? This is how content creators will deliver their content. It will be cheaper than conventional methods of delivery, easier than conventional methods of delivery, and more customizable and interactive than conventional methods of delivery.

This is not a netbook - it is much more than that.

Something like this is perfect for me. Ive wanted a small touchscreen "pc" in my kitchen. Well the problem of what is available is they take up a lot more space, have to have a keyboard, and are not mobile. This is.
