I still maintain crack cocaine and other things that will be detrimental to the body are covered under 1st Corinthians Chapter 6 where we are told our bodies are the temple of the Lord. However that is MY belief and we have already established that beliefs and opinions are like our behinds - we all have them!

Your right. Corinthians is talking about things that are detrimental to the body. In the case of this women, the blood transfusion would've been beneficial to her body.

but there is blood in meat =/

I'm not asking you to look it up (I don't feel like it either really) so no worries hehe

The blood has to be drained from the meat. You know hunters, right? They drain the blood from the deer. Ever hear of blood sausage? They add blood. A JW would not knowingly eat blood sausage, and that's some awesome sausage!

Then they shouldn't be allowed to eat a steak either..

You ever see the blood drip off of a steak while cooking it??

Hell, i like mine rare, you can see the blood dripping down my chin when I eat!

 I'm not trying to justify what they do, just why they do it. I'm offering no more than an explanation why the woman made the decision she made. It is based in scripture. Each religion picks and chooses which scripture they want to follow. I don't really care. I'm an athiest. I think they're all nuts.

Little ol' Me
When asked about my faith, I was questioned about how loyal I was..
I was asked..

If the leader of the church said to us/you.. The second coming is upon us, sell all your wordly possessions, and leave your house and come to ....... What would you do?

I looked right at them, and said, I would continue to work to provide for my family, I would continue to pay my bills, and I would not load up my family like Jed Clampett and head to ......

They thought I had lost my mind. that's NOT obedience, that's NOT being faithful. At that moment I saw clearly. If I heard of ANYONE else doing that, because their church leadership told them to, I would have thought them to be mental cases.. What would make me any different? What would make any of my friends in th is church any different? I/ We had been 'brainwashed' (for the lack of a better term) but that one question/ scenario made me see the light.

7th Day Adventist?? Their world has already ended.. Their followers DID sell all of their possesions and prepared for the end of the world.. that didn't come.

The puple clad dumbazzes that killed themselves to be transported to the Mother Ship.. yep.. mental cases everyone.

Is this woman any better than any of them, is my opinion any differnt? No, she's a mental case.

What Would You DO.. if your church leader, pastor, minister, Pope, Bishop, Cardinal etc ... etc.. told you the same thing tomorrow? What if they told you to sacrifice your children?? (don't say it's not possible, it's written about in the bible) What if they told you that for the good of the congregation, and your soul God has asked them to sacrifice YOU!?

May I ask what religon you believed in before?

I think it obvious if you read some of the other threads..

but I was born methodist, and was methodist most of my life.

I converted to LDS at the age of.. 28 (I think).. I baptized my ex-wife and all of my children..

A LOT of what the Mormons believe make sense, and still ike to think a lot of it's true, but I have a hard time with organized religion as a whole.

And to put your faith and future into a 'bowl' of this is what we believe so this is what you must believe.. and if told this is what you have to do.. seems ludicrous to me.

now my faith is who I am..

Not what others believe, or what they tell me to believe.

The passage in Leviticus that says not to eat/partake/consume (depending on translation) blood, is in fact talking about animals. It is part of the directions on proper preparation of meat for consumption (I assume it is part of the Kosher law).

It talks about draining the blood from animals when you kill them, before you eat them.

And there is a passage about Birth Control

Genesis 38:9-10

But what was the offending action in that passage? Birth Control itself? Screwing his brother's widow? not wanting your children to be declared by law as belonging to someone else? or defying your father who ordered you to screw your brother's widow and get her knocked up?

I think he was being sarcastic hehe

Maybe, maybe not. I imagine lots of people use that passage to address the issue of birth control. But my point is, like most passages on most subjects, it is open to interpretation.

Yep. Every right. And now her twins get to live without a mother. Yep. Good choice. :yay:

Evidentially the Newborn Twins did not have the right to choose that their Mom live... Oh they are nut cases alright...

Luckily for the kids they will have a loving Dad around to look after them... Unless he gets sick(er) and refuses treatment...

In this case that might be best so the twins can grow up and make logical choices and not have to be worried about being brain-washed......

You're quite flip about your opinion. What do you think about people who think all religions are a form of brainwash?
