Jehovah's Witness mother of twins refuses blood transfusion then dies.

Neither is coffee, but blood is. One should not "eat" blood. Eating is a form of consuming something. So is drinking. So is main lining. So is transfusion.
Eating is done via one's mouth. I guess if I drink some that'll count. This makes me think of the communion excersise where they drank the wine as the blood of Christ.

Yes, I do see your point. You're trying to tell us that you have your head firmly wedged up your ass and have no idea what the bible says.

He's pointing out that many things are open to such vast interpretation that they become kind of silly to try and follow.

well thats what I gathered anyway.

So, if Eve had mainlined the forbidden fruit, it would have been okay since that wasn't "eating" in your view. Thanks for clearing that up, Skippy.

King James Version

Acts 15:29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

Leviticus 17:12 Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood.

Genesis 9:4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

I'm not. It's likely the words "crack cocaine" are not in the Bible.

I still maintain crack cocaine and other things that will be detrimental to the body are covered under 1st Corinthians Chapter 6 where we are told our bodies are the temple of the Lord. However that is MY belief and we have already established that beliefs and opinions are like our behinds - we all have them!

....

I don't even know what to say to that

why would they base faith to the death if they can't settle on a version they feel is correct?

Because people challenge them and say "that's what your bible says". By using older, established bibles they can show where it says it in "your" bible, too.

Really, so you don't know where the bible commanded the Inquisition... Or where it commanded the Crusades... or any of the other of THOUSANDS of atrocites against humanity called for in the name of Christ.. or Zeus, or any other God?

Yet the faithful, commanded to do so by their church leaders, carried out these atrocities, yet it's not called out to do so in the Bible?

So, how can you find it hard to believe that it won't happen again? Who will it be the next time? Blue eyed blondes? Mormons (again)? Jews (Again)? Portestants (Again)? Anyone under six feet tall is not close enough to God and MUST DIE!!! Everyone taller than six feet tall is TOO close to God and must die!!!

Who's church will be the instigator next time? Catholics (Again)? Protestants (Again)?? Islam (oops, I guess they are the NOW group eh!??)

Here, drink this Kool-Aid so together we can all meet God!!

well then shouldn all JWs be vegetarians?

(not trying to be sarcastic)

It just says blood. Not human blood.

maybe I'm not getting this. If they have to look to older bibles to determine a translation or reference, then why not just use that bible permanantly?

New World Translation (JW) Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

Acts 15:29 to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. If YOU carefully keep yourselves from these things, YOU will prosper. Good health to YOU!”

Lev 17:11 That is why I have said to the sons of Israel: “No soul of YOU must eat blood and no alien resident who is residing as an alien in YOUR midst should eat blood.”

Gen 9:4 Only flesh with its soul—its blood—YOU must not eat.

Keep in mind that the NWT is not translated from an existing bible, but from the greek and hebrew.

Because the bible also gives us permission to eat meat, and I'm not going to look up scripture all day.

You're not getting it. They're not looking to other bibles to determine translation. They're using other bibles to show (when teaching) that other versions of the bible say the same thing.
