Joel Osteen on Mormonism

There's a lot that the bible doesn't say, if that weren't so, then there would only be one Christian faith.
True, but we can't fill in the blanks with our own ideas. We must go with what is written there; no more or no less. Like life in other galaxies; the Bible doesn't say that there is or isn't, so we can't rightly say either way.

But you also can't say someone is wrong or misguided by believing there is or isn't either.

I totally agree! Because of what I just said, I have never told anyone they were wrong if they believed in life in other galaxies. My tummy says it's time for dinner. I hope to be back shortly, if not, I wish you all a very happy & healthy 2008.:howdy:

What about what was left out? Now we know, we have proof, that several books were left out of the bible.

I'm just generating discussion.:coffee:

Well, they were left out by the early fathers of the Catholic Church, long after Jesus or any of his follower lived. The question that remains is was it a mistake by man or has God guided this and left those books out.

One school of thought is that they were left out because they had a lot of the same info as the other and were therefore superfulous. They didn't add anything.

Another is that the early church fathers left them out because they brought up uncomfortable questions thay were not prepared to answer.

If you think that God wasn't in control of the compilation of the Bible then you'd say that but, since He was, nothing was "left out". He guided them to include only the books that were in compliance with His teachings. There are some good teachings in the Apocryphal books but there are also some false ones and that's why they were left out. God was in control of this completely.

God guided them. And, yes, as you said there was a lot of the same info in them that was in the 39 "OT canonical" books and, most of what was rejected in the Apocryphal books, is contradicted by the books in the Canon of the Bible.

Nope. There were books that were not accepted for inclusion because they did not conform to Christian teachings.

God is in control.

Well, the Bible the book didn't come about until well after Jesus. It was compiled some 300 years later. Until then the different churches used all sorts of texts. That's why there's the apochrypha.

All the apocryphal books were written before Jesus' birth.
