No, load shed drops off electrical loads when the generator is overloaded before it starts lugging the generator. Generac has connections in the transfers switch to do it and you can buy wireless modules to install away from the generator.
I know....enjuneer and all that...but our entire compound is powered by numerous generators and all are manually connected when needed. Including the Generac.

The 20kw hybrid solar + generator system I've been working on installing on our other island that last couple weeks....that's tech over the top, by comparison to my "home system". And it's operational status is accessible on my cell phone.

As soon as I saw generac, I thought you would have load shed. I have it and it works great with a 14 kw generator, pretty much runs the whole house.

Picked up a lightly used 12kw Generac for next to nothing....it connects to the building via back-feeding the disconnect box for the hot tub. 100% to code. :killingme

Just sneakin' around....
Install finished, just have to move critical circuits from the main panel to the sub-panel. 7.6kWh, 6000w running, 9000w surge.

Auto Transfer Switch. Senses loss of grid power and switches to the battery/inverter within 20 milliseconds.
Seems like overkill unless you get lots of small power interruptions. I get plenty of power outs here, but I just have a manual switch. I like to use power outages as an excuse to look over my equipment.

Sure is, but it's something I've wanted to do, just because. If the power does go out, I don't need to wonder if it's 2 minutes or two hours or whether to drag out the big genny. If the power goes out while I'm not around, no worries. Good selling point when I move out.

I run my backup gennys every 2 months or so and test the manual backup so I know everything is ready.

How many times a year do you lose power to need/justify all that?
I have a generator in my shed that I run a 150' cord to my panel and back feed thru the water heater breaker if I determine that power will be out for more than a couple of hours so far in the 24 years we have lived here it ran 1-2 times for about 3 hours.lights and receptacles work as well has well pump other high amp draw equipment I turn off doesnt take that long to set up my next home will have a whole house generator for sure.

3.8 kWh Battery with an additional 3.8 kWh battery on top, 6000 watt inverter, battery charger and dual 1200 watt solar MPPT inputs in one box.
What was your total cost and how many man hours for the installation, it looks like a job well done.
