because the ex went to court. Turned out all the money I'd given her prior to the judgement didn't count and I was in arrears starting from his birthday.

No I mean, why can we divide furniture and stuff, but we can't sit down like adults and say...this is what's best for little Johnny, here's what it will take from both of us to make little Johnny's life the best it can be.

This is because oftentimes people don't agree; say you were Aps' wife for instance.

People are complicated and different in that they diverge on various issues. You almost need an arbitrator (lawyer) and enforceable rule of law (judge and law enforcement) to come to some order between the disputing parties.

Isn't this common sense? My bad, common sense must have been one of the million things you gave up for your children.

along with my sanity, yes...

 You've never had kids. Woman will bytch and moan the whole time she's pregnat and then when the kid is finally born, they get post-partum depression and then wonder why a non-married dad wants to run off

Another way to think about it...

Don't think of it as "Child Support"

Think of it as a "Peace and Quiet Tax".
Suddenly, it almost sounds worth it.

Should any of my kids grow up to become a forumite (God Forbid), this message is for you: I'm only kidding boo-boo. Nothing could be worth being forced to live away from you guys.

Common sense tells me that someone that doesn't even have kids, let alone is a single parent, should STFU
