Kids being "Ugly"

I will do anything but spank her at this point! Although, I think she might need one! I am so afraid that I am going to hurt her! She has made me that mad this past week.

I have put her to work but as soon as I leave the room, mommy who?

Put them to work. If they have something to do they don't have time to give you sh!t, but then we're talking about 6yr olds. At 6 they are going to act up. I never asked mine if they wanted a smack. I just did it. And it didn't matter where we were or who was watching. Permissive parenting doesn't work. You'd think people would get the message by now. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying to swat them everytime they're bad, but an empty threat is no threat. A kids are smart and they know if you'll punish them or not.
Oh no...I asked if she liked it after she got it cuz it seemed like she wasnt happy til i did.
Oh i've had to bust her rear in public, there is always someone wanting to be a hero that feels the need to stand and watch. I asked one lady "can i help w/ something?"

When we are out in the public and she acts up I will use the threat of the "Pinch" She knows what that is and doesn't like it. Will usually straighten up right away.

Yep, there's always one that thinks you shouldn't spank your child. I had a lady in a store ask me once why I spanked my child. Told her to mind her own dayum business or she was next. You got to know where to draw the line on spanking or you'll be hitting them for any little thing they do and that's not right. For my daughter, "grounding" worked wonders in the later years. My son was much harder to handle. He's autistic and was very very difficult to handle when he was young, but even he turned out pretty good.

I can relate to it being harder to handle a special needs child. My oldest is autistic. SO alot of the 6 year olds stuff, is liking starting all over again. That is why I am looking for ways to handle this problem with her. At least the baby (4) is being reallly good today, like most days. I think she sees her sister get into trouble and doesn't like the punishment that she sees her get. I am hoping this is just a stage!

6 years old is trouble, but they do get older. Wait till they are 15 going on 16. They know everything about life and how to live it or they think they know. Then at 18 or 19 they find out their parents were right and they're calling you for advice. :killingme

So this is just a stage she is going through? Please tell me how long will it last? Because I am turning grey before my time with this child!

Sorry, there's no set time. I'm 49 years old and premature gray. At least you women can use hair color. I have to go around looking older than I am. :banghead:

I hope that I can handle it right with the 6 year old now, so that when the youngest is 6 I don't totally lose my hair! And at this point, hair color ain't workin' I have alot of grey for 39!

What are these children doing that is so horrible and making you so ladies angry?[/QUO

As for me...mine is just plain in your face defiant...
Redden that rump and then tell them that anything Santa or anyone else brings them for Christmas will be given away to a needy and much more deserving child.

Hold your ground and repeat as necessary. I remember with my youngest daughter when she was 6 I thought that I was going to wear out my hand on her rear at times. I didn't and she's finally starting to come around now that she is 26.

Lets start with being mouthy, defiant, not cooperating, not listening, doing something so horrible that I dare not voice it here, followed by hitting of others ie: her sisters, ending with spitting! Now you know why my flying monkeys will totally destroy the child if I don't just walk away right now!
