Kids!!!!!

Rules are rules and just because you think a rule is stupid doesn't mean you can break it.

My daughter breaks the no cell phone rule everyday. I make her. They are not supposed to even have them at school. Period. My kids walk to school (Stoddert) from Bannister. There has been a time when she called being harassed by little thugs and I had to get them picked up quickly (my car doesn't have tags right now). I feel much better with them having a cell phone on them for emergencies. Screw the schools no cell phone rule.

Well, The boy just called. Apparently the iPod was taken Yesterday during Gym class. Around the 0940-1030 time frame. Says he put it in his gym locker while dressing out then came back and it was gone.

Told him he could come up with some money and do chores to make it up and I would consider getting another one. Along with that the new bike, and PSP I got him are going to be staying at my house until such a time comes where he has earned a bit more trust.

He was a pretty somber, quiet fellow over the phone.

Well that was a good idea! Hope this teaches him to become a little more responsible :huggy:

That makes more sense :yay: Similar events happened more often than they should in gym. Those lockers are even easier to get into, as well (at least at my highschool I went to)

basic cell service is quite a bit cheaper than basic car insurance

Um, just got the car, and her cell only cost $10. Is that ok with you?
Also, have I asked you for anything?

:cds:
Just thought it was odd that she would have a cell but you not have tags on the car...but if you just got the car that is understandable.

We need to ask Jeff to check the scanner. I think someone's been running around pissing in people's cheerios or something today. :killingme

Shouldn't you be teaching?

You know I almost put a disclaimer on my very first message about why I'm posting and not teaching. It's called lunch. And the reason I'm not teaching now is because the school day is over. I understand the misconception though... Most parents think I'm supposed to be in the cafeteria spoon-feeding their 12 year old around 12 o'clock. I come here for a good laugh. Helps bring my blood pressure back down after dealing with these little sh*ts all day.

You sure have a great attitude for a teacher.

I think Cell Phones and Ipods should be against school rules. That was the main reason I didn't want my boy taking his to school.

Is it against school rules???

Most places seem to have the policy of "as long as it's put away, it's fine." My kids bring phones and ipods to school everyday but they know if they're caught with it out in class I take it.

In response to all the hate on here... I didn't say a kid doesn't deserve an ipod. I said an Ipod Touch. They just seem so fragile with the glass surface and everything. And the capabilities of it are overwhelming. I would not trust a child with something that will allow him to access so much so secretly. There's no sense in it. A regular ipod suffices.

Jeff, Please don't think I'm attacking you. I have a lot of respect for most parents out there. Especially ones who recognize the concept of rewarding good behavior/grades, etc. But in my opinion... it's kinda like buying a new car for a teenager who just got their license.

It's not really any of my business. If you buy your kid an Ipod Touch, who am I to say anything? I really don't even care. Just expressing my thoughts as so many do on here. I do hope he recovers it though. It'll be the best way to learn the lesson and not be out the money.

I understand. No hard feelings. Everybody has an opinion and I guess in your situation you likely just get sick & tired of telling them to put them away or having to take them. Heck I would likely get tired of dealing with them as well.

In the meantime I am trying to get some here. sooo.....
