Larry's Comic Place Doesn't Like Toddlers

Yeah, I know. I think the point that I am (very ineffectively) trying to make is that a lot of the responders to this thread took the opportunity to ##### about kids rather than getting the real point of the OP: It's pretty damned surprising that someone with a service-type job of scooping ice cream complained out loud about a customer.

At least that's how I took it. Mitzi can correct me if I misinterpreted.

And FWIW, my boy shared some of his ice cream and it was very good.

You're exactly right! You seem to be one of the few that understood the point! :yahoo:

I really wish someone would open up a kid friendly place to eat with great adult food. That way all the complainers wont ever have to hear a kid scream or cry again...

Kids don't eat "great adult food" - that's why Friendly's and McDonald's were invented. Take your squabs there.

Why do you feel he shouldn't have said something to you? Yes, it could be considered rude, but one could argue that you started it.

I wish someone would open a food establisment that doesn't allow kids

Seriously, when asked my preference in seating, I have been known to say "the no children section"

Mitzi, I'd put this topic to "bed" because those who "get it" understand and those who don't are going to continue to :deadhorse , just because it makes them feel good about themselves.

The pier does this. They usually put all the people with dumb kids up front.

There are plenty of establishments that don't allow kids. They are typically located in Caribbean islands. It is great to go to a resort and not have to even so much as see a stupid kid for week or two.

Once again, he did not say it DIRECTLY to me. He said it and didn't expect me to hear him. Once again, it's rude and unprofessional for a worker to make snide comments about a customer when the customer can hear them. I've worked in service or front desk positions enough to know it's just wrong to do that. You either deal with it properly or if you're ready to blow a gasket have someone else deal with it properly. Never be nasty to a guest or customer or whoever you are helping. I'm not repeating this anymore. :deadhorse

How can you be so sure he didn't want you to hear it? Maybe he's just not confrontational.

My take is, comic books have become a whole sub culture thing, and my guess is, they wouldn't normally encourage toddlers in this store, anyway. There are collectors comics in these stores that go for a pretty steep price, and I don't think they'd appreciate junior pulling one from the racks to tear through the pages, and I'm not saying that your darlling was doing this, or could have, just that you might want to consider the environment.

I just did before I even read this. Two days of this is enough :jameo:
If you find the establishment with tall, dark haired attractive men that smell nice let me know. I can't find it.

Then he's spineless. No, it isn't a normal place that I would take a little one into other than grab a hot dog or an ice cream and leave with it. Which is what we had planned to do.
Oops, I said I would end this conversation.

I agree. When I was in there I noticed some of the prices on things and was like WTF :faint: So I told my 4 year old touch anything and die!!!

J/J I said look w/ your eyes not your hands bubba!

No, I expect when someone has a problem with me to say something directly to me, not just out loud in general.

Your child was causing a disturbance, in general. If Westboro Baptist Church can voice an opinion, so can a server.

If that person were a "professional" it would be acceptable...

 Is that a question or a statement? If you work with the public, better learn to bottle up your complaints about the customers until you go outside for a smoke break or something. Customers tend to respond rather poorly when they overhear it. It ain't rocket science.

He wasn't making a rude comment to a customer. You are the customer not your kids. He was making a rude comment about a dumb kid with no money who is not a customer. I don't see a problem with this situation.

You are probably the type of person that can't understand why people get mad at you when your kid is crying though a movie at the theater or a nice resterauntt such as the Olive Garden.
