Larry's Comic Place Doesn't Like Toddlers

If I read it in the store I don't have to pay for it. If I bought it and brought it home my dumb wife would call me a looser and make fun of me for reading comic books.

So you put it out here on the one place where everybody knows you and nobody would hurt your feelings by calling you names and laughing at you for reading comic books.

Yeah, for about a week, unless you coddle them.

He is not coddled. In their entire toddler time, your kids had meltdowns for a week? Please tell me, exactly what did you do that your toddlers only had meltdowns for one week?? Please share!

My kids didn't have meltdowns, either. Sorry.

Mine did once. In a grocery store in Maine. I pushed the cart over to the service counter and said I will be right back. Took boy out to the truck and strapped him in his car seat and told him if he was going to scream go for it. When he was done we would go back and finish. Then I shut the door and sat on the bumper until he was done. Took about 5 minutes. Then we went inside and finished.

He tried one more time and I took his hand and said "Lets go you can sit in the truck alone again." and he stopped. Think he was just over 2.

Come to think of it I was smarter then.

Mine did once.

Doug did once, but I wouldn't put up with that crap, either. I told him he was being an embarrassing butt, and walked away from him.

"Mommy? Mommy???"
"Are you done acting like that?"
"Yeeeesssss....."

Went to the square today for Earth Day. The grand baby got hungry so we went in Larry's for a hot dog and ice cream. Waiting in line the grand baby started having the usual meltdown toddlers have. He was in the stroller and not running around. So we're waiting and the guy behind the counter says "I wish they wouldn't bring their screaming babies in here". Now this wasn't some kid, this was an adult obviously in charge. If this was a restaurant, one of us would have taken him outside. I was pi$$ed. No matter how feel, you don't make comments like that when your customers can hear you. They lost a sale today.

So what you are saying is this is a GREAT place to go if you don't want to be bothered with screaming toddlers. Thanks...i'm in!!! :buddies:

Mine either. They learned discipline and consequences very early in life and grew up to be self sufficient adults.

Can you understand that he just turned two and is learning discipline? All kids are different. My daughter didn't have meltdowns at two out but my son did.
The baby is disciplined, he's usually good when we're out, he doesn't do this all the time like some are implying.

Don't bother. You committed the cardinal sin of admitting that you and/or your child might be less than perfect. From here on out, you'll probably just get recommendations that you take the child out in the woods and abandon it.

:lmao: This is exactly what I had to do a couple weeks ago w/ my 2 year old. If anybody heard muffled sceaming in the parking lot of CIB, that was us. :howdy:

Your kid needs to learn discipline at home not in a place of business.

If you really want your kid to learn discipline in public do it at a playground or at chunky cheese not at a reputable comic book store.

Nobody is saying their kid is perfect. However, just because you (figuratively) think your screaming brat is cute doesn't mean anyone else does. And I can tell you that if we were in a line for ice cream and one of my kids had started having a fit, that would have been the end of the ice cream.

Kids have meltdowns. If my toddler starts to get loud in public (from being tired, etc), we leave. If I recognize they are about to start with my kids, I walk away from them, saying I'll talk to them when they are done acting like that. That works and it usually stops, but....

Some of the posts of the "my kids never had meltdowns" because I did this and that. Umm, really?
