Got some crabs this past Friday. By yesterday afternoon they just didn't taste the same. I think 3 days is the most I will ever keep them.
They make a soap for that...ladybug2004 said:Got some crabs this past Friday. By yesterday afternoon they just didn't taste the same. I think 3 days is the most I will ever keep them.

Everytime I've had crabs that way they were gross and soggy.AK-74me said:That comes from the better be safe than sorry people talking but they can be cooked and eaten to a point. If they are all alive say at noon and you put them in the fridge and you take them out at say 4pm and some are dead you can rest a sure they are fine.
We always kill them on purpose just before cooking them to prevent them from dropping their claws, stick them right above the point of the apron on the belly with an ice pick.
And have to ask.. how do you cook them??AK-74me said:That comes from the better be safe than sorry people talking but they can be cooked and eaten to a point. As long as the crabs are alive they can be cooked safely. Been doing it alot of years. If they have an amonia type smell, get rid of them. If the crab is dead and you can't be sure how long, get rid of it. Food poisoning sucks, I know, I've had it.AK-74me said:That comes from the better be safe than sorry people talking but they can be cooked and eaten to a point.
