The most important thing to remember about freezing and storing crab meat is that it is very perishable. Since the meat spoils quickly it should be used immediately after it is cooked. Do not let crab meat stand at room temperature longer than necessary. Whole crabs or solid meat will only last two or three days, at most, under refrigeration; however, if properly wrapped and frozen, it will keep up to three months in the freezer.Ponytail said:How long do cooked left over crabs and alaskan crab legs last in the fridge and still be safe for human consumption?
If it's been longer than two days, you are probably better off. I hear food poison from spoiled seafood is extremely painful and nasty...Ponytail said:dammit. trashed.

What's the longest you have let crab meat sit in the fridge and then fed it to the hubby...appyday said:I am lucky I am not dead
You are still in the "two day safe zone"...:shrug:cattitude said:We had 3 1/2 bushels of crabs Sunday at my parents. My dad cooked them. My son picked about 10 of them today and I just fixed some really good crabcakes.
Maybe Daisy can shovel up after you. :shrug:Ponytail said:dammit. trashed.

RodRugg said:Wow! That's good to know and explains a lot! This guy down the street used to walk around everywhere with crab meat in his pocket so he could feed the fish and squirrels. One time he fell off his balcony into a potting shed that was all padlocked up and broke his leg. When they finally found him, he hadn't eat none of that crab meat at all. Now I know why! Anyways, they said he lived for about 3 weeks.
