Understand, but it is not like the firefighters would go into to the plane break the seal which the documents/tapes/whatever it is contained in and read the materials.

If you have a group of firefighters walking through, spraying water, there is no way you can keep track of them, and what they are touching, and at that point you don't know if you have compromised data or not... I'm sure if there was a PERSON on the plane still it would have been different, but it's better to lose a $2 million aircraft then compromise secure data, it would cost a LOT more then $2 million to fix a compromised data issue.

Everyone was off the aircraft and accounted for, THAT's all that mattered. Airplane and electronics can be replaced.
