Locker rentals

Not sure, I just know I had to give her $6 for the two different lockers. $3.00 for Science lab fee & $10.00 for Art fee. I'm sure if she didn't have to pay for both the gym & regular locker she pocketed the $3 she didn't use for something at lunch so it's all good :yay:

My stepson had the Science Lab fee and $15.00 for Engineering Class plus the locker fees. I thought it was kind of crazy!

Uh oh. I hope I didn't overlook that on his Science list. I'll have to doublecheck that.

:howdy: Hi! I don't have school age kids anymore, but thought i would share with you. Be careful what computer your kids put their flash drives in when they are working on stuff at home. The neighbors daughter was in the web building class and brought the flash drive home to do work on her computer. The whole system crashed. There was a virus on the school computer and she brought it home in the flash drive. may want to check it first if possible for viruses, so the home computer does not get ruined.

Yep! I asked girl why she needed money to rent skates. She said that "some of the skates were ruined last year, so the school needs money to replace them." Not sure how accurate that is, but that's what she was told by her gym teacher.

I told her that she didn't ruin any skates last year so I'm not paying. Then I wrote a note to her teacher asking for "documentation" of the rental fee.

We'll see how that goes.

No kidding how silly is that!

I still remember the first year I took my son to kindergarten class he was so happy because he had gone the weekend before and got to pick out his own spiderman pencil box, pencils, his crayons, etc... well when I picked him up that day he was standing next to his teacher :bawl: The teacher said "he got a little upset this afternoon he should be fine though"

Apparently they took all of the supplies the kids brought in and put them in a community box. When I called the school they said that it helped incase all the kids didnt bring in the supplies or no supplies at all. So I said well if that is the case give my son back his items and I will go to wal mart and purchase the inexpenisve supplies for the community box. :boo:

They're out to get us
I never had a locker or any fees to use...anything at school (that I can think of). Special students with a need got lockers in high school, but for the most part we were stuck with massive backpacks that had 50 text books and notepads. Sometimes there'd be enough time to go between classes, but sometimes you get that jerk of a teacher who says class isn't over til they say it's over, and occasionally hold you after the bell. Then it's just a mad dash to make it on time without even going to your locker.

We only had 4 classes a day for 1.5 hours each, so we only had 4 textbooks and notebooks to deal with. Probably sucks a lot more if you have 6-7 classes a day.

I was told by my son that you had to have their gym clothes :eyebrow:

:tantrum:

I was told that too. But I'm sure my Ex was wrong about it. So he paid for the gym clothes.

St Marys schools did not get short changed.
average per student spending in St Marys is just over 9,000 per year, compared to 6,050 in Anne Arundel and $7,051 per student in Baltimore city.

I bet that the PTA or PTO depending on what you have there, is getting the money.
So much money gets sucked out of AA county to support Baltimore City and PG (because the way the district lines are drawn, that a couple years ago the PTO had to beg parents for money to replace old lockers.

The paper I received from school said that locker fees will go to the PTA.

They really do nickel and dime us. Son needed $3 locker rental (and has to share a locker), $15 for spanish workbook, $15 for Foundations of Technology lab fee, a flashdrive for the Found of Tech class and another flashdrive for Health class (why do you need a flashdrive for health class?). Plus the $80+ I spent over the weekend on the various binders and other school supplies he needed. Also, class pictures are next week and the cheapest package is $42 for a small amount of pictures. Picture cost will be twice that since I have 2 kids there.

Just wait until college. When you get "great deals" on used books for $100 and when you're paying $150+ lab fees, you'll wish he was back in high school.
