Almost nothing we ate on our farm came from the store; either we raised it or one of our neighbor farms did. Mom cooked up ham, roast beef, beef tonque, meatloaf, etc just to make "lunch meat" for the row of brown bags she fixed up every weekday morning for Pop and us 3 kids. Nothing better than a bunch of thinly sliced beef tongue with some mayo between thick slices of homemade bread. I felt sorry for the other kids..;-)
