I eat too many carbs and it triggers eating binges, so i have to stick to the low carb lifestyle. I'm better off without all that sugar and starch.. that stuff messes me up, gastro-wise.

Thank you both. I have been keeping a log of what i eat and the carbs. I went back and redid them. Ya i could of ate a little bit more the past two days...lol! I just need good tasting bread. I hate eating eggs with out a piece of toast.

Arnold has very good tasting 100% whole wheat. (wheat is just my preference - they have other very good breads, too.) :yay: Another one, I think is called Nature's Own. I usually buy that, as it is cheaper and tastes very good as well. These loaves all for around $2.50 - $3.50 a loaf. Walmart is least expensive, usually. Generally, those loaves have fewer slices, than your "cheapie" loaves of bread. Keep an eye on the serving size. 1 slice is pretty large compared to the cheapie loaves. But it's better for you. I won't eat cheapie bread anymore. Blech!

I eat 3 egg whites and a slice of bread every day for my breakfast. There are some who say there's not that much cholesterol in the yolks after all. That's fine, and I don't have to watch my cholesterol anyway. I have eaten low carb for years and I figure, why eat all the calories in the yolks when 3 egg whites are just as filling and way less calories. And high protein.

Working on it. It's weird adjusting to absent of appetite.

You really have to make yourself eat. I'm famous for doing the same thing so I should not advise anyone on this- as a matter of fact, I got out of bed to have a few nuts just now. I've been on South Beach for awhile and I when I low carb it (and stay busy), I rarely ever get hungry.

I have lost 5 pounds in a week and a half! :yahoo: I have lost some of the bloat feeling i always get one when i eat. I did have a slip up and ate some fried crab wontons but it made my stomach hurt after the 3rd one so i stopped.

I love Natures own bread. I eat only 1 slice and 2 eggs with the yolk. I hate the white part...lol! I am going to start using only 1 yolk, then go down to none. Its a process...lol! Im not a morning breakfast person but i have notice that for the pasy week and a half i have more engery. The first days i got really sleepy but not anymore.

:yay: At first, I was the same way. Now I'm really used to it and don't miss the yolk part at all. I use the Smart Balance margarine and it is very tasty so it's just normal to eat it that way now.

I recently went to a new job where there are a LOT of people. MOST of them eat, eat, eat at their lunch time - which may be different than mine, so there is always food coming in and/or being heated up in the micro. :jameo:

I was a stay at home mom for many years, then I worked for 5 years in a very small office so I've had to get used to all the food offerings available ALL day long. It's hard to resist sometimes! We have a luncheon on the last Friday of each month, and on the first one, I took some of this & some of that - thinking I just wouldn't eat dinner later. OMG, I could barely function the rest of the day. It was the worst feeling to eat that much food during the day. Now, I take the teeniest portions of the high protein, lowest carb foods I can. I usually offer to bring salad if no one else does - that way I can at least load up on salad.

You gotta eat breakfast folks period, end of discussion. 5-6 small meals a day and things like a handful of almonds or a 90 calorie Special K bar as your snacks.

Soccer mom- Try 1 whole egg and 1 white as your breakfast egg selection, and you can use your Phase I from P90X to help with the diet, there is a ton of low/no carb selections in there.

Oh, and if you're cheating, you aren't succeeding.

I am trying the low carb diet. My Doc said i am IR so i need to watch my carb and sugar intake. I am a little confused about the net carbs and total carbs. On different websites of low carb products it will show a product having a net carb of 2 but as i read more the total carb was like 14. Doesn't seem low carb to me. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks!

my doctor told me the same thing, then after i told her that i couldnt understand labels and didnt have the patience for all that she said dont eat over 50 mg of carbs per meal. thats what i did and i have lost 10 pounds and my sugar is good! go for it and good luck, it makes you feel wonderful about everything when the results start coming in! i am happy as a clam now, keep us posted.

The other bread I was thinking of was Nature's Pride. Wally's carries it.

I think the lowest carb bread is Eziekiel bread, but after a while you don't even miss the bread...

I would recommend reading "Protein Power" by Dr Michael Eades, he also has an online forum,

I am down 103 lbs, from size 24 to 12

I agree you really do need breakfast, I do a protein shake everyday for breakfast, I was using GNC protein powder but switched off to the atkin's single serve drinks in the blender with ice.

Then take a collection of snacks to work-- celery, cheese, nuts.

The thing that has kept me on track the most is packing my lunch in the evening.. and having the shake ready to go in the morning.

to break it down to simple terms-- you eat meat, green veggies and cheese.

limit your fruit intake to berries-- and follow a diabetic diet.

also exercise!

I have done the low carb thing for over 2 years. I am a triathlete ( although smaller ones than the Ironman !) bread...I eat Pepperage Farms low carb (5 carbs a slice) slices are small but you get a bread fix. One slice a day .Noodles....try spagehtti squash...and use a grader and make noodles out of zuccini(for lazagna)....Sugar free cool whip with grapes or blue berries is yummy. "low carb" bars ect....that taste like chocolate...well they use a product called malintol.....that will cause gas or a quick run to the bathroom...so use is small quantities. Oh and lets not forget for french fries....Butternut squash....slice like fries ..sprinkle with olive oil, bake for 20 mins...YUMMY..you can also sprinkle with old bay .cut out the sugars and soon you will no longer crave them, watch artificial sugars..all but splenda still effect your blood sugar. Dite Rite cola is splenda....and my favorite thing is Sugar Free(splenda) Hills Brothers Cappucchino
Good Luck and stick with it !!

I'm going to make tacos for the Ravens game today. Instead of a soft or hard tortilla , i am going to melt cheese into a round shape. Then try to form it into a shell. I read it somewhere online to do that. If that doesn't work i have small soft ones that our 10 carbs. Ill just eat two and a salad.

When I was doing atkins, I used to make melted cheese tortillas a lot, in place of a real tortilla. They were awesome to eat steak ums on.

If you're looking for good no/low carb recipes, check out the South Beach Diet cookbooks, particularly the Quick and Easy one (it's the yellow one, and most of the recipes take less than 30 minutes). It's hands down the best cookbook I've ever used. The meals are so flavorful, easy and even the 8 year old likes them.
