I would much rather live in Southern MD because I grew up in coastal NC and it just reminds me so much of home because the topography is so similar. And I love boating and fishing and the family lifestyle down that way I think would be better for my stay-at-home wife and kids.

Yep, you and everyone else. It was so much nicer in southern maryland before it became the popular place to live. Crime is getting worse, traffic is getting worse. Our schools cannot keep up with the number of new students coming into the system.

I do that trip every day - Lusby to the Naval Research Lab. Its 60 miles driveway to gate. I leave around 6:45 and am usually there by 8, unless I stop for Starbucks or gas :)

I take Rte. 4 to the Beltway, then get off at St. Barnabus road (headed s/w). I go right on Livingston, R on S. Capital Street, then L. of Chesapeake St. which puts me right at the entrance to Gate 2. You avoid the back ups on Suitland and on the Beltway that way. Not perfect, but darn close. If something is horrid on the Beltway, I take Suitland to right on Naylor to right on Southern Ave to S. Capital St.

Not that I want any more company on Rte. 4 in the morning, though :)

I wouldn't say it's "the popular place to live" necessarily, it's just the last place in the metro area where houses are still affordable. People are being forced down that way by the outrageous prices closer in. I don't think you've really even started to see the huge wave of people that is going to be headed down your way yet. Just look on the bright side -- when things get so crowded and overpriced that you can no longer stand it, you'll make a killing when you sell your house. I think it inevitable that St. Mary's and Calvert County are going to be overrun. It's a shame, but people have to live in the Metro area to get a good job, but they can't afford to live in the area where they work. But what is the alternative?

Nah, the condo itself was nice. The hood was kinda scarey. I guess not much worse then living in the heights though! :lmao:

You find a house yet?

Yeah thats what I was talking about was the condo.

Yeah if you survived living in the heights you are good to go! :killingme

Yep found us a house; thank goodness.

Man, I do not envy you. When I lived in Cap hts md I drove 295 to Pa Ave to drop off one son and then back on 295 S and exited the Naval Research Lab exit and then took the left up Chesapeake St to the top and a right at the light by that school to drop the other son off. I hated that commute because of all its twists and turns and then to go back to S Cap st towards Bolling make a U turn to get back on 295 to go to VA via WW bridge. How do you do it? I was tortured!
