Curious about what is so anti-Semitic about Passion of the Christ? That's how the story *goes*.

Should they have made Jesus' executioners white male oil moguls?

In Gibson's film, the Jews are presented as evil villians, 100%. There's no shading. The Romans are either depicted as misguided idiots or incredibly reluctant villians who are pained to go against Jesus. But not those Jews. The music becomes menacing when they're on screen and they're all scowling devils who want Jesus to be done in as brutally as possible. Gibson might as well have slapped them in armor and played up their breathing -- they were shown as Darth Vader-style heavies. And, of course, during the first scene where they appear, there is a long, SLOW-MOTION shot of gold. How stereotypical. And Gibson's anti-Semitic comments during his recent arrest prove this wasn't misguided foolishness on his part, it was a deliberate act of hate.

And who knows if this is how it played out? The New Testament has been changed more times than the original Star Wars trilogy.

Thats what I like about Mel Gibson, the fact that he can apologize for something he did wrong and actually admit it.Jmo

It's not as if his publicist would pass on the chance to send out a 'heartfelt' apology 'supposedly' written by Mel himself, though.

The whole apology letter is standard-issue. Celebs practically always send them out after they engage in something potentially controversial or image-harming.

No, they were short olive skined Italians.
